"We are sorry to inform you that James Orlin Grabbe passed away in his home in Costa Rica on March 15th, 2008.

He will be missed, Godspeed Orlin."

Most probably already know. But in case you didn't.

His website used to be my first website to be visited every morning. A superb combination of deep politics, finance, psychedelia, discordianism, quantum physics, activism and naked ladies.

RIP Orlin Crying or Very sad

Sad. Crying or Very sad

Is his site being archived somewhere?

I think the first thing I read of his must have been "When Osama Bin Ladin Was Tim Osman", which he posted less than two months after 9/11. Is Riconosciuto the only source for that?

Here's my June 2002 review of his site, one of about 50 reviews of 9/11 skeptics I did on my old site at osamaskidneys.com.

THE HOME PAGE OF ORLIN J. GRABBE

Orlin Grabbe, happy butcher of sacred cows, is a money consultant with a sense of humor who presents links every day on the war, issues of privacy, espionage, money laundering..." and a usually entertaining miscellany, with a special interest in speculative science and technology. The site reliably links to most of the relevant 9/11 news stories of the day. Outspoken as a skeptic, Grabbe has openly propagated the "inside job" theory, provided a huge list of reports to establish the Bush-Binladin family link ("More evidence than for the Osama-WTC link") and reported on Michael Riconosciuto's recollections of meeting Osama Binladin in the U.S. in 1986, when Osama supposedly went on a weapons shopping tour under the pseudonym of "Tim Osman." Grabbe seems to live in Dubai at the moment. Maybe he could get to the bottom ofthe French story about Osama's kidneys?

Devoted to a simplistic Randian libertarianism, Grabbe never minces words or disguises what he thinks is the truth. He has no compunction about springing obvious hoaxes and seeing who falls for it, which is mildly unsettling given how outlandish 9/11 Skepticism already seems to most people. In his day job, Grabbe is trying to establish some kind of new untraceable way of trading dollars, euros and gold on the Internet known as DMT, the instructions for which are written in impenetrable tech-speak. (Sometimes he awards $100 DMT certificates to the first person who can register them. This motivated me to download the software, but I wasn't fast enough to snag one, and wouldn't have known what to do with it if I did.) Whether or not you are on his political line, he sure knows his spook world. If you want an expert's primer on off-shore cash laundries, the mechanics of political payola, banking and finance, encryption and the like, this is it. You must delve into the archives to see most of the WTC-related links.

WARNING: For some reason, Grabbe adds a soft-porn pic every day - nannies beware. (NOTE TO PROF. GRABBE: Your taste in photos is pretty good, though I liked it better before you went topless.)

---

Tits? Soft porn? By the end it was triple-pierced labia. His site was very exciting at that time, always new, weird and thought-provoking, and he was throwing out all the 9/11 stories as they broke, plus a lot of high weirdness on cybersex and the like. But I gradually lost interest as he stopped producing his own stuff, started linking to a lot of disinformation, and finally stopped updating. At least some of that now appears due to a decline in his health.

Bummer man, I just started checking his site in early march and then it went stagnant and I thought he was just busy. Man that was a good site too. Loved the quantum physics stuff. I have to thank, brainsturbator.com for the heads up. Too bad I got in so late.

Kent Steadman over at http://cyberspaceorbit.com/ also left the planet recently.

Likewise a good site that Mike Hagen over at:

http://mikehagan.com/2012/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=51

Has picked up.

I always enjoyed visiting Orlin's site for a sometimes daily fresh supply of link candy - there where times when he really kept it up like a madman. I used to wonder how he had the time to surf and check out all that info. I like how he grouped the links too, there was a logic to the order I thought, with the kookiest and mostly sex stuff near the end.

On a negative note, I remember hearing that some (or a bunch of?) folks got scammed on the DMT money system, but I'm not sure how true or what that really means. Anonymous digital cash is sharky waters... so such allegations could mean anything, I suppose. I too was tempted to dip into DMT, but never had enough money that I could afford to lose. The IDEA behind DMT is brilliant, I think, and if there were a reliable, hack-proof, anonymous crypto cash in existence, then I think the Internet would rise in status to be a sort of para-nation.

Is Crockett Grabbe Orlin's brother? Crockett seems to have at least some overlapping interest in 9/11.

I'm really sorry to hear Orlin has passed away, and I wish his family well.

Anybody know how old he was?

Wow! I just noticed to my surprise someone posted a book Orlin was working on Avaxhome. (Avaxhome is a web based sharing/piracy portal in Russia). Never would have imagined him popping up there...

Apparently, he was publishing this book in chapters on his site. Here's the quote and link from the Avaxhome site if you'd rather not go there.

Quote:
(Information taken from various sources)
James Orlin Grabbe, who passed away in his home in Costa Rica on March 15th, 2008, was a Harvard Ph.D. with an extensive background in, among other things, high finance, education, technology and a number of other key areas. From 1981 to 1986 he was Professor, Department of Finance, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he taught an MBA course in international financial markets. In 1995 he published "International Financial Markets" (ISBN-10: 0132069881) which ran to three editions. He wrote a number of short stories and essays and maintained website, regarded as one of the earliest 'conspiracy' sites, whose aim was that of "inspecting the global underbelly: privacy, money laundering, espionage." It has been described as "a bizarre amalgamation of disparate information including neuroscience, technology, conspiracy theory, finance, politics, and soft-core porn." The writer has not been able to obtain his date of birth or even a photo of him.

From 1999 to 2003 he wrote a series of chapters for an ongoing book named "Chaos & Fractals In Financial Markets" which were freely downloadable from his website. Fractals were novel then and he endeavours to use them to explain market movements. Although his website is no longer up, this book can still be found on the Web. The PDF version included here was assembled before Grabbe published his last chapter (8 ); this is included in the HTML version. One is left with the feeling that the book was never completed.

"Mr. Grabbe has a strong taste for conspiracy theory and conclusions that I regard as erroneous, so his work on chaos and finance deserves some level of skepticism. I have only carefully looked at the web page on the Hurst exponent, referenced above. The material does seem to be accurate." -Ian Kaplan, www.bearcave.com.

The download includes both the PDF version (Chapters 1-7) and the archived HTML version (with Chapter 8 ), as well as background material on this eccentric, outspoken individual.

It was that review that first led me to Grabbe's site.

Yes, it was a weird and wonderful place for a while. On an average day, you would find Orlin Grabbe's refutations of relativity AND quantum theory tucked in snugly between two naked women.

Sad to hear he's gone. According to Wiki, he was only 60 years old.

When I first saw his site and the date line (Costa Rica), I thought of a friend that said many ex-gov.cia.dea.nsa folks go down there where the dollar goes further and they get to hang in the same circles. Could he have been one of the men in black? The mix of porn and politics always points in that direction.
