Sorry to veer off-topic for a tic (and I this is allowed), but Et in Arcadia Ego, did I read your comments in Florida eats its Young thread correctly that you are in Bradenton?

If so, howdy neighbor! Sarasota here.

No, sorry, I was born and raised in Miami. I've lived in Ft Lauderdale, Clearwater, and St Pete before later moving out of the state to Birmingham, AL a few months before 9/11. I miss the natural beauty of Florida, but I definately don't miss living in those cities, especially Miami. Miami, of course, still haunts me in the form of the 'Miami Ink' show every customer seemingly asks me about, which features artists I used to work with down on South Beach.
____________________
Oderint, dum metuant

Ah, too bad. For a few moments there, I enjoyed the thought of you stomping around in Bradenton, once hailed as Death Metal central. Back to topic with my apologies.

I knew many people from Bradenton, Obituary, for one. The death metal scene in South Florida was prodigous circa 1990, eh? I knew all those guys back then; I tattooed a bunch of em as well.

____________________
Oderint, dum metuant

Hey--off topic for sure, but I lived in both cities as a child! Small world, eh? I went to a school called Pineview. Do either of you know if it's still operating? Also lived in Talahassee and a little town named Madison.

Pineview! Still around, though I think it has moved to south sarasota.

It still has its gorgeous weather (okay, not so much right now) and picturesque beaches, but after 6 years in Boston, I cannot help but feel that this place is culturally bereft, in addition to being politically corrupt. Thank the gods for rigint.

Florida always reminds of that quote by Haldane, the biologist, when asked finally what, if anything, could he attribute to the mind of god. Haldane, without missing a beat responded, "An inordinate fondness for beetles."

interestingly, control factor does not have a page on wikipedia, which i don't think i've ever seen before... bum bum bum...

(i confirmed this by searching for it generally and also looking at the page for the main actor... in his filmography the title is shown in red, meaning there's no link)
