{PORN} Mind Candy or Mind Control?!? {PORN}

Postby IanEye » Tue Sep 12, 2006 5:10 pm

I found out about the website "IShotMyselfDotCom" about three months before I started reading Rigorous Intuition. Growing up as a kid in the 70's my exposure to porn was tempered by my parent's feminist ideology that porn was demeaning to women and in general not cool, but also that looking at a Playboy wasn't going to damn me eternally to Hell.<br><br>One time a friend of my parents gave me a big lecture about sexism and why it was unfair. Then later, this same [female] friend confused me because she had some photos of herself skinny dipping on her bathroom wall.<br><br>"Aren't those photos 'sexist'?" I asked her.<br><br>"Oh, no. I took those myself, they are self portraits so they aren't sexist."<br><br>"So, if a guy took them they would be sexist, but because you are a girl and took them they are not?" i asked, trying to make sense of this.<br><br>"If I didn't really want my picture taken without my clothes on, but felt I was in a situation where I had to, that could be sexist."<br><br><br>This was all kind of hard for my ten year old mind to grasp, but as I got older I started to understand the basic concepts if dignity, control and lack thereof, and how the "ism"s could come into play [sexism racism ageism etc]. <br><br>So, the concept of "IShotMyself" is Women [18years old+] take a bunch of pictures of themselves in what they consider erotic situations, pick only the ones they feel comfortable submitting to "ISM.com" and then those who choose to visit the site can see the Women's [presumably non sexist] self portraits. Well, that seemed all fine and dandy and i really enjoyed looking at the various portfolios. But, then I started reading about "Mind Control" and "SRA" and a whole host of really nasty ways some people like to control other people.<br><br>Where I used to visit the site and say,<br>"Wow, that is a really cool photo of a naked woman with a butterfly landing on her nipple."<br><br>Now I go,<br>"Wow, that is a really coo- , wait a minute!! Is that a MONARCH butterfly?!? Is this a nice portfolio or some sort of weird 21st Century Slave auction?"<br><br>So, what say you RI readers? Should I not mix my digital media and leave the paranoia to RI and let ISM.com be my oasis of "Dickjoke heaven" as Bill Hicks used to say? Or, should I be concerned that all of these Women are in a large holding pen somewhere in Australia? Don't "Alter"s always use mirrors to enter a trance like state?!?!........<br><br><br>Is "I Shot Myself" just a bad punny phrase or something more sinister?<br><br><br><br><!--EZCODE IMAGE START--><img src="http://homepage.mac.com/ianeye/.Pictures/ri01/unbelievable_055_132.jpg" style="border:0;"/><!--EZCODE IMAGE END--> <p></p><i></i>

Why shouldn't women enjoy porn? Why shouldn't they make a living from it? Women and men have sold their secrets since the dawn of forever. It's only in the last few hundred years the misogynists and hipocrites have gained the upper hand.<br><br>Now the internet is redressing that imbalance we can expect all the old scare stories.<br><br>Power to the Pussy!<br><br>Now I'm gonna shoot myself..<br><br><!--EZCODE IMAGE START--><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/seamus_oblimey/P1010033.jpg" style="border:0;"/><!--EZCODE IMAGE END--> <p></p><i></i>

I know two people who have been on that site, so no, they're not in a holding pen. You're exhibiting a large degree of confabulation in your paranoia, there's a lot of actual evidence to get paranoid about, without the need for effort on your part inventing connections.

Porn is definitely mind control, though.

Whoever came up with the I Shot Myself site concept had a brilliant idea: get female art school students to think its cool and daring to shoot naked photos of themselves and post them online. I've got no proof that the women there are art school students (maybe they are just college students), but they look like it to me and it fits the mentality of students pushing the envelope and daring themselves to "reveal all".

What I find far spookier is the evolution of soft-core porn at certain sites over the years from home-grown US women amateurs to (now) a heavy presence of Eastern European women (also supposedly amateurs) who I can't help but suspect are the tip of the iceberg of human trafficking.

But I don't get that vibe from the ISM women. I think they are doing it willingly as a kick.

It's not such a great divide, that if a woman is in control of her sexuality she doesn't have to internalize the fear and loathing, the self hatred that men project onto them.

Mind you, the whole system is a ghostly hen pecked echo of a tribal primitive and brutish sexuality, social control paradigm.

It's my opinion that when a woman is happy and healthy, she doesn't choose to join in on the male exploitation and fear of female sexuality.

Therefore, when she takes the pictures herself, it's her own attitudes and ideas that she's imparting and not being pigeon holed by male paradigms that seek to perpetuate disparities in power.
