I just noticed this company from a different source, got totally amazed, and even optimistic [optimism?... what's that?] and rushed over to drop the bomb on here, to find this post already up.

Everything about the company and device looks 'kosher' to me. I am only a layman though, [but was a physics major] and I do believe in the basic possibility of over unity devices, so maybe that's colouring my intuition a different shade than rigorous.

Don't forget HDCC's have existed for a while and are becoming exponentially more efficient, they already produce up to thirty times the input energy in a spike of charge according to some sources.
[This is fun]

My main worries would not be about the device, which fits very easily into my basic energy-universe paradigm. They would be for the twenty or so members of Steorn, and exactly why, should the device be genuine, they have been allowed by the PTB to progress thus far.

I'd like to invite all members to [check out the Steorn site and register for results.]

Meanwhile, any comments from the ample numbers of genuine tech-head geniuses that post on our board here would be nice.

Decent x

We already have free, clean, renewable sources of energy. What we want is more faster and from a smaller, more convenient device that just about any community can acquire and maintain.

I sincerely hope that Steorn can provide that. But, I don't understand their secrecy. If I sincerely believed I had such a device and/or the plans to make one, I would make it public domain immediately, and in as public a way as possible.

Edited by: Iroquois at: 8/19/06 11:27 am

There seem to be indications (including on the company's forum) that it's viral marketing for Halo 3 or some such, in the same way as ilovebees.com was for halo 2. However if so this is a serious upping of the stakes for viral stuff, as they're trying one way or another to get professional scientists involved. If it is a publicity stunt I hope they have a pretty good team of lawers! (no problem for microsoft of course)

It seeems (according to rudimentary internet reasearch... some real life investigative journalism would be much better) that Steorn did exist as a company (ie at least had a website etc) back in 2000. This doesn't preclude it being a viral, as the company, a really small time dot com startup by the look of it, could have been bought out by microsoft, could have been owned by people who now work for bungee/microsoft, could have been set up by very forward-thinking bungee/microsoft marketeers in order to have a fake company with a history for future viral campaigns etc. etc...

I know if i were developing a free energy device I wouldn't try and market it with a lame "imagine a world..." ad in a single magazine

also the info about the device itself is somewhat minimal to say the least!

Iroq; I can only find evidence of them trying their level best since 2003 to get it out in the public domain as swiftly and conspicuously as possible. Sure, renewables exist but this is pure ZPT ffs!
That would mean an end to the energy crisis and eventually foment global commercial breakup. There's a bit of a diff!
I am more inclined toward Orz, but even the PESWiki article has them as serious scientists who previously helped develop card-reading technology, and also has them with a genuine registered patent[s] submitted.
I'm not saying this is actually genuine, because I don't have any rigorous proof. What I am saying is I've had a bit of a dig and it's VERY worth keeping an eye on.

Decent x

Yeah judging from the website and the forum you might be right orz.

However also judging from what they say about how they developed it... using magntic fields and while working on developing wind power..

They could be onto something like the supposed "Hendershot fuelless generator".

From what i understand that operates by drawing a current off a rotating magnetic field at 90 degrees to the earths field.

But then that could be clever viralling.

Implying that it works on that principle.

Oh this is fun. This is some sort of viral marketing campaign or something to that effect. At least, I'm going to assume so for now because it's fun trying to sort it out, though I question the ethics of such a move. If they are legit, we'll know soon enough when their building blows up mysteriously.

There is not much info on the page at all about the actual technology, despite the call for scientists to review. So I started by perusing the forums. Theories offered there include an xbox campaign for Halo 3. Halo 2 used a fake website as a marketing trick. check it out here:

ilovebees.com

Another theory is that there is currently some sort of online "alternate reality game" about the show "Lost" and I think that show may have a free energy theme or maybe is developing one. The idea is to find fake websites and I don't know what the end goal is.

There are a couple of similarities with the ilovebees site. For example, if you go to the registration page, you'll get a honeycomb. However, one theme on there seems to be fibbonaci numbers, which is odd since I DID just finish watching the movie "Pi" which featured this.

There are two "errors" on the site I've found so far. One is to announce the winner of some tech competition. The winner is called "blackhawk" on the page, but the true winner was "nighthawk" or at least so says a forum poster. Another error I found independently was in the news release about "canceling christmas" and giving money to the "chernobyl aid hope project". If such a project exists, they don't have a web presence as the only hit returned is the site itself.

Quote:
Steorn cancels Christmas!

In lieu of a Christmas party this year, Steorn has made a donation to the Chernobyl Aid Hope Project

The video they supply is just two guys talking...and not even seeming to be that aware of what the true implications would be...yeah, you can run your car and your cell phone without charging...and you also have free energy which would destroy and/or transform our entire economic system.

No....there's something wrong here and I hope I can catch them before they announce what the real game is. And hey, if it's a real site...I will happily eat crow. Ecstatically, in fact.

Also, remember that other weird site...the gratitude one? Maybe someone can dig that one up. We had a long thread about it...lots of images of spirals on it.

Dick Decent,

I realize the difference of what they are proposing, but trying to get attention is not the same as making the device public domain. What I mean is the plans, how to operate it, how to build it, everything must be given to the public so that anyone may use or exploit the device as they see fit with no limitations and nothing owed to the inventors or to anyone else.

Anything less, to me, says that it is either a hoax (more likely) or something that will just be buried by whatever faction interested in preventing the sort of economic upheaval Dreams End correctly predicts would be the result of such a device going "wild" gets its tentacles on it first anyway.

If they are trying some middle road, expecting to profit off this invention like it was just another "next big thing" gizmo, they are not as clever as I would expect a group of paradigm shattering scientists to be. If the economy could not survive this, what would their profits be based on? How would they be enforced?

Fibonnacci numbers are trippy things.

The lightshow behind your eyelids on magic mushrooms often follows fibonnacci series.

If you are following viral memes tho, what does the name Steorn refer to?

Its Gaelic I assume, but what does it actually mean in the context of the site?

I am gonna go check it out again.

the whole thing's got a nasty taste of anti-science propaganda to it to... the whole meme of 'oh those stuffy scientists and their laws of thermodynamics! '

I agree with everything posted on this so far!
Also it's nice to think we have covered all the bases
ie:
1. out and out hoax
2. viral marketing
3. genuine error/naievete on their part
4. the device is real

I still think that so far, the most compelling evidence for a non-device scenario, remains simply that the PTB would never have let it go this far if it was actually gen.
I do however like the look of the site and the video, [especially the first guy,] and therfore claim that, so far, alternative 4 [no relation] MUST remain at least a possibility!

I don't actually believe it but it's definitely gotta be worth keeping an eye on.
I for one will be watching with interest... and anyway...
I dont believe ANYTHING

Is it really such an outside shot that these guys are the tip of a ZPT related iceberg, that the tech could somehow finally overthrow and ultimately defeat the cult, almost by accident; purely with speed of advance?

Maybe 2012 Dec 21 is the day that a company called Nano-ZPT Freeware Systems [or some such thing] opens trading, and over unity, refuse fuelled replicators are born!
We'd probably be too late to stop the weather system going into chaos anyhow...

I do have everything crossed, but won't be holding my breath.

Decent x

reading the messageboard, i'm finding it interesting that so many people seem to have a very odd attitude: They've been conditioned to scoff at "conspiriciy theories" so are ridiculing those who suggest viral, scam etc with the usual boring "tinfoil hat" etc memes, but are happily willing to believe in an inherently ludicrous miraculous discovery without a shread of evidence. Odd... totall lack of rational thought about the situation.

Hope I am, and can stay rational, and still believe in the possibility of the device and company being legitimate... In the POSSIBILITY of it.

Also there is at least evidence on the TYPE of device, a generic which has already produced interesting results and theoretical possibilities.
have a shuftie here or search free energy 'magnetic motors' for other sources.
Not to mention a sketch of the actual 'Low Energy Magnetic Actuator' itself and a link to the relevant patent docs here.

I suppose a persons attitude may depend on whether one believes, or not, in the general POSSIBILITY of such a thing as a true over-unity device.

I know the odds are stacked heavily in favour of a [viral] scam of some kind, fook knows why I am arguing this corner at all, no-one I know would dare call me an optimist!
