No one wants to fight this war, yet there are no successful anti-war parties. How very Orwellian.

There are so many Americans out there still who support this war but won't make any real commitment to it; a truly ugly aspect of our American culture. How cynical have we become when we won't support what we supposedly support. I guess we learn from the best; 1 of 535 congress-critters actually have a close loved one in the military (an AMAZING stat). I'd venture a guess that even that lone servicemember has been guaranteed a place out of harm's way.

As for the people who do not support the war (we're told they are the majority now), they are not stopping this war. This is no small point. The system is fucked, and its hard to see our way through to results, but is that really an excuse? There ARE hundreds of millions of us. The objectionists too, many of them anyway, are guilty of not supporting what they support.

Perhaps the price to be paid for razing hell on a population as great as California should be to force all of our hands. I totally disagree with the concept of conscription in a free society; I believe that people would volunteer to fight in an honourable fight, but the waiter will eventually bring the bill for our complacency. It could come in the form of a nuclear attack by mysterious forces. Or maybe we should just swallow the bullet, let the draft happen, and force our true inner feelings to the surface. It could be that the draft is the least affecting way to exact proper change by forcing the populace to confront their complacency.

Then again, those mysterious forces could drop their nuke once the draft is on, and the heat is high to turn it off.

Did you get all that?

Thanks for reading my inner deliberations. Obviously the draft would be a terrible idea because the powers that be have the power to obfuscate, but our hundreds of millions of complacencies here are the true problem, and we will eventually face the price.

...Anyway...lol
