Kinky & Ventura

Postby Corvidaerex » Thu Sep 28, 2006 3:56 am

Watch out brethren, something weird is going down.

Jesse Ventura abandoned the USA and moved to the wonderful land of Baja California, Mexico. Think what you like of Ventura, but he spent 6 years in the Navy, 4 years as a mayor and 4 years as an independent governor in America.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=l...DrqI&eurl=

He is stumping for Kinky Friedman in Texas. And he gave Alex Jones a looooong (3-part YouTube) interview. All common sense stuff, relating to the golf star's jet immediately getting military escorts, the Cuba plots, JFK, etc.

But still, interesting. What the hell is going on with these "fringe" politicians?

I worked with Jesse in Atlanta and found him to be very intelligent and totally iconoclastic. No way to pigeonhole him, but he was pretty scary.

I think that the only thing Kinky will achieve is to return the spawn of busholini to the Governor's Mansion. Chris Bell is the best guy running but doesn't stand as good a chance of returning the governorship to the Dems with Kinky in the race.

I tend to like iconoclastic independent electoral campaigns. And I think that the practice of discounting them as performing any function except "spoilers" is dubious conventional wisdom. Such candidacies allow sections of the public who feel disenfranchised by two-party politics as usual a chance to put their numbers on the board and get some recognition.

If the Democrats had any balls, they'd work out a way to embrace Friedman's run for office.

It's also my impression that the administrative workings of the state of Texas provide for a "weak governor" whose wishes are largely subordinate to the legislature- so I think that Kinky's run is a risk worth taking.

I understand the other side of the argument, and don't wish to pursue it. And, after all, I don't live in Texas.

I will simply conclude by bringing up the fact that ranked-choice "instant runoff" voting would be a simple electoral reform that would obviate all of the dilemmas posed by the potential of "spoiler cancidacies."

Any chance that the Dems will champion this reform, ASAP?

This is a little weird...I just posted a picture of Ventura on my blog. The article didn't have a lot to do with him, other than two things:

He'd been part of the Reform party but left it.

The picture was actually a photo signed for American Nazi writer Bill White by Pat Buchanan and Lenora Fulani. The article was about White and how he worked both for RCP and also the Reform Party, following some themes I've been developing and didn't really get into Ventura much as I don't know that he fits into that whole spectrum. However, one should, whenever one can find an excuse, post pictures of professional wrestler's on one's blog. Everyone knows that.

link

Ventura and Jones Vid

I think MKM picked this up and posted on the original site to the effect of what I'm saying below

Go to 7:16

Ventura says "what do you get out of this?"

Jones "My country is free" puts hand over his mouth "I learned about gov't sponsered terror researching black ops....."

I thought the stumble of Jones in answering this question is telling us something; and his hand over his mouth in stating how he learned about gov't sponsered terror to be fascinating.

I've done enough negotiating, horse-trading, and poker playing in my life to know what the hand over the mouth means. It means the person is relucant to say what they are saying; and it is highly likely what they are saying is a lie.

Alex is hiding something. Here's an "official internet" sourcing of what the body language is saying:

Quote:
Hand over mouth: generally negative; often denotes disapproval or reluctance to speak openly

www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1608/is_n7_v14/ai_20946890

Hmmmm....... what is Alex hiding?
