I had to hold my nose in order to vote for Kerry. Can't imagine why anyone would want him campaigning for them in the first place. Thank heavens, this will put the last nail in the coffin.

This gave me a giggle:

www.eyewitnessnewstv.com/...5&nav=F2DO

DES MOINES, Iowa
"A Democratic Congressional candidate from Iowa is canceling a campaign event later this week with Senator John Kerry.

Brucy Braley says Kerry's recent comments about the Iraq war were inappropriate.

Braley is running against Republican Mike Whalen in Iowa's First District congressional race. It's a contest considered to be one of the most competitive House races in the country.

Braley's decision to distance himself from Kerry came as a furor grew from comments Kerry made about the Iraq War during a campaign stop in California on Monday.

Kerry said if you make the most of your education, you "can do well." The Democrat went on to say that is you don't, (quote) "you get stuck in Iraq."

The remarks prompted sharp criticism from some Republicans, including President Bush and Arizona Senator John McCain.

Kerry refused to apologize."

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 11/1/06 11:02 am

My heart aches for this country's loss with that piece of dirty-work masterpiece. And I'll tell you something else I think. I suspect Dean's campaign manager, Joe Trippi, had something to do with it. He was not only the campaign manager, he also owned the ad company that made Dean's commercial's, from what I read. Those ads here in Iowa were TERRIBLE. I mean they positively stunk, except for one long half-hour ad early in the game here that was good. Everybody tried to tell the campaign to dump the ads, and nothing changed. That Trippi company sucked off a good piece of Dean's campaign money, too.

I would love to see the other clip.

Quote:
Last year, a young cable news producer attended one of our twice-yearly Ethics Institutes at Washington and Lee University, in which students and journalists gather to discuss newsroom wrongdoing. He brought two clips.

The first was the familiar pool footage of Dean in Iowa. The candidate filled the screen, no supporters were visible. Crowd noise was silenced by the microphone he held, which deadened ambient sounds. You saw only him and heard only his inexplicable screaming.

The second clip was the same speech taped by a supporter on the floor of the hall. The difference was stunning. The place was packed. The noise was deafening. Dean was on the podium, but you couldn't hear him. The roar from his supporters was drowning him out.

A friend was a freelance film editor in LA. This was back in the day when a candidate had a reason to appear in Watts. Can't remember the office being sought, but this guy was basically chased out of the 'hood by an indignant crowd of citizens. A fiasco ending in the motorcade beating a hasty retreat.

The film editor, using mere seconds of the total event, presented a candidate engaged, compassionate and well-received by a grateful citizenry.

----

Kerry, while campaigning Oct. 30 for California gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides, said: ``Education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq.''

Kerry said earlier the comments were aimed at Bush, not the armed forces, and Republicans were feigning outrage over a poorly delivered joke. Kerry, who was the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, called on Bush to apologize for misleading Americans over the war.

Kerry's office today released the remarks as they were prepared for delivery: ``I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush.''

In his apology today, Kerry, a Vietnam veteran, said, ``I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.''

www.bloomberg.com/apps/ne...r=politics

Here’s your last October Surprise: The Air Force is demanding an emergency cash infusion of $50 Billion — half its annual budget — just to bring home the U.S. bodies.Another source familiar with the Air Force plans said the extra funds would help pay to transport growing numbers of U.S. soldiers being killed and wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. What the hell? And this is after begging an extra $18 Billion three months ago. We know the military pays quadruple for everything, but if 1,000 troops are killed in Iraq every year, then the Air Force is spending … $50 million per body? Maybe that’s the price to make sure they don’t get “stuck in Iraq” for the afterlife, too.
Stories like this make stories like this sound pretty plausible. That link goes to the curious tale of Camp Falcon, which we watched exploding on Live TV for a few minutes on October 10, and then the cable news went back to whatever nonsense. But Camp Falcon wasn’t done. It exploded all night long. Between 100 and 5,000 U.S. troops were in there. The Pentagon says there were no casualties and minimal damage. That’s not what they’re saying in Baghdad. Google has already removed the most outrageous video of the attack, which shows a giant mushroom cloud over the huge base on the southern outskirts of Baghdad, and no “mainstream” news reports have appeared since October 12. The Associated Press has even removed its story.

Air Force said to seek $50 bln emergency funds [Washington Post]

http://www.wonkette.com/
