I have heard 4 talking heads on cnn, fox etc, say that the democrats who have won could easily be mistaken as republicans on the issues. I was listening to cspan and Reynolds(NY) was spewing about 14 or so puke races that went against the media polls , Schmidt, Pryce, Davis, etc...all the worst puke offenders had glorious , despite all the odds, late run victories.
As for the Dems, He was pondering the thought that many of the new dems could be on board and they needed to be reached out to in order get things back on track.

I call this the "walk".
In order for the seats to change, many play dem, but if you study what they say or find out their real positions by their actions, they many times are worse than the original problem.

Its like moving/walking a dresser by yourself, first the left side then the right, and before you know it you're on the other side of the bedroom.

The above aside, I am happy to see many go, especially that weasle Dewhine.

But despite that, the Dem electorate needs to realize they were snookered on some key races they should have won, And the electorate needs to make the Dem leadership fix it.

I personally think the whole thing was engineered.

"Trying to lose" sounds very Rovian.

It appears to me that they wanted the dems to win...

MP, I began to have the same suspicions shortly after the Foley affair hit the MSM. What? The MSM couldn't have buried that story, along with all the other scandals and "bad news"? That they've been so good at in the past? IIRC, I voiced those suspicions at the AllSpinZone, Blondesense, and the Dark Wraith Forums.

And here's an interesting post from the Dark Wraith entitled:
"Breaking News:
Ohio GOP Poll Workers Received Supplemental Training Last Thursday"

Invitation to settle into blithe amnesia

Postby Gouda » Wed Nov 08, 2006 3:04 pm

This midterm hollowness is also (partially) about positioning centro-fascist candidates and platforms and narratives for the 2008 presidential selection. Moreover, if anything, now is the time to increase vigilance and turn up the heat a thousand-fold on the democrats.

(By the way, there were still millions of disenfranchised voters that suffered- on every level - even under this so-called democratic 'victory.' The false relief offered by the Pelosi Bill n' Hill Pill will NOT even begin to unfuck the system unless the democrats are hounded as severely as the republicans. For starts.)

Hi it's Darkbeforedawn. They won't let me on the board with my old name so I am reborn. Maybe it's time to take a lighter view?
Pelosi rushed in and called Chavez a "thug" for his stunning UN speech --(the devil has been here etc) Yeah the whole thing seems like a setup. ..with that NWO thug Bushkisser and #%$licker Lieberman as the tiebreak vote. They won't really be able to get down to the biz of bringing the jerks to justice or restoring our legal system. A "victory" that will just screen the agenda going forward as before.

I think the Harold Ford Jr loss was a DIEBOLD FIX. The mandate was clearly democrat all over the nation. Ford is scandal free, a likeable guy, no reason to vote him out for a republican especially when its passe to be a republican. Definitely a diebold fix, I would bet the farm on it.

Murtha will run for House leadership if Dems win this fall.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/06/09/ ... index.html

Friday, June 9, 2006;
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rep. John Murtha, an outspoken opponent of the war in Iraq, announced Friday that he would run for majority leader if the Democrats take over the House in the fall elections.

"If we prevail as I hope and know we will, and return to the majority this next Congress, I have decided to run for the open seat of the majority leader," Murtha said in a letter to his Democratic colleagues.

"I would appreciate your consideration and vote and look forward to speaking to you personally about my decision."

Yeah? Go for it, get your trials on.

I picked this up from some radio show, a good analogy I thought:

A parent wants his child to go to bed at 9. He gives the child the illusion of choice; "Do you want to go to bed at 8 or 8:30?"
Naturally the child choses 8:30 feeling quite pleased about it.

So, last night I got to stay up till 8:30 and I got Rumsfeld flavored ice cream for breakfast!

I'm taking one day to celebrate but figure I'll be back tomorrow.

"Meet The New Boss, Same As The Old Boss
Will Democrats repeal and impeach or salute and follow? Mobbed-up establishment sycophant Nancy Pelosi is nobody's savior, as sacrificial lamb Rumsfeld steps down

Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones
Prison Planet
Wednesday, November 8, 2006

The Democrats have swept the House and the Senate may well follow but did 7/11 really herald the defeat of the Neo-Con agenda or will establishment sycophants like Nancy Pelosi hijack and misdirect legitimate discontent and shield Bush from impeachment while blocking efforts to repeal legislation he passed?

Pelosi is widely tipped to become speaker of the house but she is already on the record as saying that no impeachment proceedings against President Bush, whether it be for deliberately lying a nation into war or being complicit in 9/11, will take place.

"Impeachment is off the table....it's a pledge....it is a waste of time," Pelosi told 60 Minutes recently.

In effect Pelosi is giving the Neo-Cons a blank check to send thousands more American soldiers to their deaths and conduct untold further egregious assaults on the Constitution over the next two years.

If George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld are allowed to tear apart the very fabric of America without consequences then what is to stop a President Hillary Clinton or John McCain doing the same?

There's no doubt about it, to see frothing Neo-Cons who have been strutting around like John Wayne for the past five years finally eat humble pie is a breath of fresh air, but let's not be so deluded as to think that the Neo-Con agenda, which took decades to craft, was simply brushed aside by the victory of a party that has supported Bush every step of the way on major issues.

Nancy Pelosi voted for the war in Afghanistan, for the Patriot Act, for Homeland Security and against a bill that simply condemned torture of prisoners in Iraq. Pelosi is the pro-torture "savior" who we are told will keep in check the pro-torture Bush administration.

As blogger Kurt Nimmo points out, "Making Bush and Cheney—that is to say, the neocons—lame ducks will add a jolt of adrenalin to the neocon plan to decimate the Muslim and Arab Middle East, lest the neolib faction, under a Democrat president and Congress, go back to its old ways, that is, instead of mass murdering Iranians in one fell swoop, imposing the sort of sanctions levied against Iraq under Clinton, resulting in the slow death of 1.5 million Iraqis, 500,000 of them children."

"We can only hope, when the day finally arrives, Nancy Pelosi will be paraded before the world in her stylish orange jumpsuit, along with Bush, Cheney, and the vile neocons."

Will the Military Commissions Act, the very bill that effectively nullifies nine of the ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution be repealed under a Democrat House and Senate? Time will tell but it seems highly unlikely.

Will the army of surveillance cameras that have invaded American streets via Homeland Security grants be curtailed under a Democrat House and Senate? If anything big government and Big Brother will only get bigger.

Will increased pressure be heaped upon Bush to bring American troops home from Iraq, save the isolated echoes of dissent from lone dissidents like Murtha? No, and if Hillary Clinton rides the wave of Bush discontent all the way into the Oval Office, she has already promised to expand the so-called war on terror.

Will an independent investigation into the Bush administration's complicity in 9/11 be ordered under a Democratic House and Senate? No - and the same goes for lying about pre-war Iraq intelligence - Pelosi has already brazenly proclaimed that Neo-Con war criminals will have safe passage.

Pelosi is an obedient adherent to the phony doctrines of the "war on terror" and her recent comments that “The war in Iraq is making it harder for America to fight and win the war on terror,” only go to show that she disagrees on the minutia of where the troops should be on the map, not whether they should be there at all.

The worst case scenario, that the mid-terms would provide an endorsement of illegal eavesdropping, torture, imperial hegemony and the revoking of the bill of rights, has thankfully not been realized. The American people have rejected the Neo-Con agenda and dealt it a symbolic blow.

Donald Rumsfeld has been offered up as the sacrificial lamb and top Neo-Con architects have abandoned Bush.

All the more reason for the elite to re-arrange the deck chairs and give an enflamed electorate a safe steam valve and a token victory before the fun really begins after 2008, meanwhile the same policies of big government, Big Brother, crackdown on dissent, destruction of sovereignty, and occupation of sovereign nations will continue - all under the stewardship of hierarchy brownnoser Nancy Pelosi. no, I think this is for real...

Postby anotherdrew » Wed Nov 08, 2006 7:41 pm

read this whole post, The Great Victory - crushing the developing myths @ http://glenngreenwald.blogspot.com/
excerpt:
The basic mechanics of American democracy, imperfect and defective though they may be, still function. Chronic defeatists and conspiracy theorists -- well-intentioned though they may be -- need to re-evaluate their defeatism and conspiracy theories in light of this rather compelling evidence which undermines them (a refusal to re-evaluate one's beliefs in light of conflicting evidence is a defining attribute of the Bush movement that shouldn't be replicated).

Karl Rove isn't all-powerful; today, he is a rejected loser. Republicans don't possess the power to dictate the outcome of elections with secret Diebold software. They can't magically produce Osama bin Laden the day before the election. They don't have the power to snap their fingers and hypnotize zombified Americans by exploiting a New Jersey court ruling on civil unions, or a John Kerry comment, or moronic buzzphrases and slogans designed to hide the truth (Americans heard all about how Democrats would bring their "San Francisco values" and their love of The Terrorists to Washington, and that moved nobody).

All of the hurdles and problems that are unquestionably present and serious -- a dysfunctional and corrupt national media, apathy on the part of Americans, the potent use of propaganda by the Bush administration, voter suppression tactics, gerrymandering and fundraising games -- can all be overcome. They just were.

Bush opponents haven't been losing because the deck is hopelessly stacked against them. They were losing because they hadn't figured out a way to convey to their fellow citizens just how radical and dangerous this political movement has become. Now they did, and as a result, Americans see this movement for what it is and have begun the process of smashing it.
===
now that they're in it's up to everyone to continue pushing for what needs to be done, they're not going to lay it all out on day one. Now we have at least people in charge that can start investigations, and if their phone just kepps ringing off the hook, they will listen and act.

I took the day off to celebrate, hell, why not? Left the reality and cynicism behind for a while. But I'm not setting my years old bonfire alight just yet.

The fact is that the dynamics have changed and perhaps unlikely constellations will emerge. If nothing else the faces of some of these grotesque clowns will change. Let's not forget the smaller local elections.

I want investigations and trials. Maybe this time with bloggers and a cynical and alerted cybershphere they won't be able to slither away as in the 70's hearings.

Where is my fourth amendment?
