Rush Limbaugh heard on radio

Postby darkbeforedawn » Thu Nov 09, 2006 3:50 pm

Just heard a tiny snippet, he was saying he "wasn't going to carry watter for those Republicans anymore" could this rat really be jumping overboard? Did anyone else hear the whole show? If this is true, it's just hilarious....

Limbaugh greets Democrats as liberators

http://mediamatters.org/items/200611090005

On the November 8 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh claimed to "feel liberated" by Democratic victories in the House and Senate on November 7 because he is "no longer going to have to carry the water for people who I don't think deserve having their water carried." Limbaugh added that the Republican Congress has produced "some of this legislation coming out of there that I have just cringed at, and it has been difficult coming in here, trying to make the case for it when the people who are supposedly in favor of it can't even make the case themselves -- and to have to come in here and try to do their jobs."

From the November 8 broadcast of Premiere Radio Networks' The Rush Limbaugh Show:

LIMBAUGH: Now, I mentioned to you at the conclusion of the previous hour that people have been asking me how I feel all night long. And I got, "Boy, Rush, I wouldn't want to be you tomorrow. Boy, I wouldn't want to have to do your show. Boy, I'm so glad I'm not you." Well, folks, I love being me. I can't be anybody else, so I'm stuck with it. But the way I feel is this: I feel liberated, and I'm just going to tell you as plainly as I can why. I no longer am going to have to carry the water for people who I don't think deserve having their water carried. Now, you might say, "Well, why have you been doing it?" Because the stakes are high. Even though the Republican Party let us down, to me they represent a far better future for my beliefs and therefore the country's than the Democrat Party does and liberalism.

And I believe my side is worthy of victory, and I believe it's much easier to reform things that are going wrong on my side from a position of strength. Now, I'm liberated from having to constantly come in here every day and try to buck up a bunch of people who don't deserve it, to try to carry the water and make excuses for people who don't deserve it. I just -- I did not want to sit here and participate, willingly, in the victory of the libs, in the victory of the Democrat Party by sabotaging my own. But now with what has happened yesterday and today, it is an entirely liberating thing. If those in our party who are going to carry the day in the future -- both in Congress and the administration -- are going to choose a different path than what most of us believe, then that's liberating. I don't say this with any animosity about anybody, and I don't mean to make this too personal.

I'm not trying to tell you that this is about me. I'm just answering questions that I've had from people about how I feel. But there have been a bunch of things going on in Congress, some of this legislation coming out of there that I have just cringed at, and it has been difficult coming in here, trying to make the case for it when the people who are supposedly in favor of it can't even make the case themselves -- and to have to come in here and try to do their jobs. I'm a radio guy. I understand what this program has become in America and I understand the leadership position it has. I was doing what I thought best, but at this point, people who don't deserve to have their water carried, or have themselves explained as they would like to say things but somehow don't be -- aren't able to, I'm not under that kind of pressure.

Rush admits to lying. Finally.

"Thank goodness I can now be somewhat less of a lying hypocrite."

And still people will listen to this Nazi gasbag.

Didn't W just say in a press(titute) conference regarding Rumsfeld that "Last week I lied to you"?

Isn't this just yet another impeachable offense? Nevermind, there's a ballgame on...[/i]

L: "when the people who are supposedly in favor of it can't even make the case themselves -- and to have to come in here and try to do their jobs."

sounds to me like he's directly talking about bush (who aparently was on the L show last week or week before). and when he says he's not trying to make it 'too personal', of course he means it is ALSO personal, not only. So yeah, sounds like bush has even lost the big L. strange territory here

Rush Limbaugh caller points out Reagan raised taxes, granted amnesty (Audio)

It is a rare occurrence, but every few months an educated liberal caller manages to slip through the screening process and contact Rush Limbaugh by phone on his radio show. Today was one such moment, and what ensued was a moment of awkwardness when Limbaugh was confronted with some "inconvenient truth" about President Ronald Reagan (Audio to the left).

Limbaugh, like other conservatives, often holds up Reagan as the ideal for conservatives to live up to. Conservatives claim that Reagan generated tremendous economic growth, cut taxes, and played a huge role in defeating the Soviets during the Cold War.

However, liberals claim that conservatives have built up something of a "Reagan myth" over the years. As the caller points out, Reagan actually raised taxes a number of times during his presidency. In fact, in 1981 and 1986 Reagan signed legislation that, at the time, constituted the largest tax increases in American history during peacetime. In 1983 Reagan signed a bill that greatly accelerated payroll tax increases for Social Security. The tax increases Reagan signed into law are largely credited with helping extend the life of Social Security many decades. If President Obama called for the same kind of tax increases today to help pay for Social Security or Medicare he would likely be called a socialist, yet Reagan maintains the "conservative mantle" for similar actions.

The caller also points out that Reagan took a number of actions that would hardly fit the "conservative agenda" today. After United States Marines were attacked in Lebanon Reagan withdrew all troops from the country. Today that strategy would be called "cut and run" by conservatives. When confronted with illegal immigration Reagan signed compromise legislation that granted amnesty to approximately three million "illegals."

Limbaugh never disputes these facts, but instead simply questions the caller on where he got his information. The caller refuses to play Limbaugh's game, instead demanding Limbaugh answer how Reagan can be called conservative given the facts. At certain points there is dead silence as Limbaugh struggles to come up with a new response. The facts, in this case at least, seem to have had a liberal bias.
