DBeach asked:
--quote--
from the bush indcitment to nukes in samsonite

the thread has morphed here?/WHY? not complaining just "wondering aloud"
--unquote--

Uhm -- This is a rhetorical Q, eh? I mean:

DBeach posted excerpts of Skolnick's recent posting discussing implications of Fitzgerald's possible Grand Jury indictment and related issues ie. Judicial Fraud, concluding with the WH's likely engagement in PR diversionary tactics such as suggesting an immanent Nuclear 'terrorist' attack -- for evident agenda of second-phase Patriot Act and FEMA Martial Law and clampdown on dissent, etc.

--excerpt--

14. To distract from the impending release of the indictments and the naming of the unindicted co-conspirators, the Bush White House has caused deadly rumors to circulate.

Such as, that the FBI is tracking in the District of Columbia and elsewhere that certain supposed "terrorists" have suitcase dirty nukes ready to set off in D.C.

Such as, that Bush will declare Martial Law and suspend Habeas Corpus, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Such as the U.S. will be wracked with financial and domestic anarchy as Bush seeks asylum in Brazil, or Australia, or elsewhere overseas. "

****
I assume Robert Reed, reading what you posted above, impulsively asked about the feasability of suitcase nukes, which seems like a logical question that perhaps other people might be interested in. Following this thread and not feeling esp. disposed to add anything to the quite-informative & interesting comments I nevertheless felt by 'answering' this question with some info and sources I could participate in the wider discussion. I didn't really think it was off-topic, but if so, I apologize for responding.

Starman

Indictment/Impeachment

Postby Col Quisp » Sat Aug 06, 2005 8:41 pm

This story is spreading:

Quote:
The "I" Words

Impeachment and indictment.... Words which bring us hope that the curse of the

by Carol Wolman

www.opednews.com

There are two "i" words floating around today, impeachment and indictment. Either or both of them could bring down Bush and his evil cabal. They bring us hope that the curse of the neocons will be lifted from America, and freedom, justice, peace and prosperity will return.

"Impeachment" is whispered in the corridors of power and muttered in anger throughout the land. There is plenty of grounds- lying us into Iraq, allowing the outing of a CIA agent, lying to Congress about the cost of Medicare "reform", many other matters.

The Bush cabal maintains its grip on Congress, which has to implement impeachment. The members of the Progressive Caucus in the House are cautiously laying the groundwork by demanding key documents. They feel they must have an ironclad case before proceeding, and since Bush is expert at stonewalling, they are making little progress.

The best hope for impeachment lies with a strong grassroots movement. The desire is there- recent polls for the president are dismal. The American people no longer believe or trust him. If Rep. John Conyers hears from enough of us, he will move ahead with the impeachment process. As the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, he has the key position. As the second most senior member of the House, sitting on the Committee during the hearings against Nixon and Clinton, he has the experience. A close friend of Martin Luther King, Jr., he has the political will and leadership ability. But he needs to know that the people are behind him.

You can help build the impeachment movement by printing out the letter to Conyers at deependnews.com/memorandum.htm This is a self-propagating petition. Anyone can collect 15 signatures of American citizens- they don't have to be registered to vote, or even 18. This letter is an expression of desire that Conyers formally request impeachment hearings. It is faxed directly to his office and puts no one at risk.

As people sign, and take a petition to collect more signatures, they are encouraged and empowered. They start to recall that ultimate authority in this country rests with "we the people". It is vested in our representatives in Congress. The executive branch is there to carry out the will of the people, not to impose its will upon us. This is why the American revolution was fought- to rid ourselves of concentrated executive power, such as a monarchy or an imperial presidency.

The second "i" word is indictment, and rumors are swirling that Patrick Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor appointed by John Ashcroft to investigate the outing of Valerie Plame, is preparing indictments against a number of key administration officials, starting with Bush and Cheney, and extending to some of their supporters in Congress. According to Tom Flocco, a number have already been issued.

What is an indictment? It is a formal accusation charging a person with a crime. It is often handed down by a grand jury, such as the one that has been hearing testimony in the Plamegate situation. The next step is a trial, to see whether the accusations are true. I'm not sure of the procedure when those indicted are federal officials. Impeachment is also a formal accusation of a crime, and the subsequent trial is conducted by the Senate, as it was for Bill Clinton, who was not convicted.

Often, people who are indicted are placed under arrest, and only released if bail is allowed. It's hard to imagine that Fitzgerald has the muscle to arrest Bush and Cheney. I can picture a shootout between a posse of federal marshalls from Chicago, and the secret service pledged to defend the president.
In any case, the support of the public for the work of Fitzgerald and the grand jury is crucial if justice is to be done. The people want and deserve justice. The God we worship, the God of the Bible, the God that Bush claims to revere, is a God of justice.

Psalm 97: 2Clouds and darkness are round about Him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of His throne.

If we work at arousing the people to the necessity for impeachment at the same time that Fitzgerald does what he needs to do, we will rid the government of the plague that has descended upon us.

In the name of the Prince of Peace, Carol Wolman

Carol S. Thanks, dbeach. I guess you can call me Major Quisp. heh heh.

I'm wondering if the petition is worth trying. I found some information about a hearing that Conyers held in 2003 to bring impeachment proceedings, and he was the only member of Congress in attendance. Source: www.truthorfiction.com/ru...mpeach.htm

Quote:

Congressman John Conyers Hosted a Meeting in Washington to Discuss Impeachment of President George W. Bush-Truth!

Summary of the eRumor
An email from the petition website Grassfire.net says that Congressman John Conyers (D-Mich) brought together a group of attorneys and legal scholars to consider articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush. The articles were drawn by activists who are opposed to the U.S. led effort against Iraq's president Saddam Hussein.
The Truth
News of the meeting was reported on March 13, 2003 by Roll Call magazine in Washington DC. According to the article, Representative Conyers, who hosted the meeting, was the only member of congress in attendance. The articles of impeachment were described as having been drafted by Francis Boyle, an Illinois law professor. Roll Call says another attendee at the meeting was former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark. WorldNetDaily.com says Clark has publicly called for impeachment of the president and is associated with the web site www.votetoimpeach.org/.

According to WorldNetDaily.com, some of those who answer the phones at Conyer's office denied that meeting took place and called it a rumor. But Dena Graziano, a spokesperson for Conyers told WorldNetDaily said that the meeting had taken place but that the "consensus" had been not to pursue the impeachment.

My user name changed again...sigh...now there are no spaces...it's all me in whatever incarnation.

Anyway, I don't think impeachment or indictment actually "fixes" much. In fact, it may be dangerous, as then we have the whole "the system works" and now "liberty and justice will reign again" cheerleading and the real issues sink back into deeper cover.

HOWEVER, IF there is an impeachment, I will be on my couch, with about 7 barrels of popcorn and a case of wine (with one bottle of champagne for the end) watching every minute. I may get TIVO so I can replay stuff.

I know it's not logical, but even though I know there are dark forces at work whoever the figureheads might be, I still want to see Bush and co. go down. And who knows...the "damage control" mechanisms could fail and the whole thing could come tumbling down. Then we probably get our asses "Gardenplotted" but it will still be exhilerating to watch!

One of the little subtopics I follow is items that suggest members of the establishment are turning on other members of the establishment. I think this may be the case here...most likely the CIA leading the charge. (Similar, as I think about it, to what may have been going on in Watergate times...who's our Woodward?) Now personally, I have no problem with Rove's outing a CIA operative. I think this is a GOOD thing. The cia is evil and if you work for them...you should be outed. If I find out you are CIA I will out you myself. Stop overthrowing governments, assassinating people and making little MKULTRA robots, you crypto-fascist goons! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">

But I think that the real powers that be have figured out that the current crop of leaders are simply not competent. I have said it before, though not on this site. We are watching fascism emerge into the open, but one hope may lie in the fact that the current regime has got to be the most incompetent set of fascists ever to get their claws into a country.

I agree with most of this article..It has good outline with quotes from the elites...

www.hermes-press.com/cabal_index.htm

"For more than a century, ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. The risk reward pay off is ridiculously insufficient.

The Bush cabal are not a stupid bunch. You can ridicule Bush, Cheney and the gang all you like, but they're running our country, making billions through Haliburton and the Carlisle group, getting away with torture in open view, and rewriting the Constitution while flipping the middle finger to the main stream media who take that finger, lick it and deposit it in their anatomy on a daily basis...with a smile on their faces."

www.citizenspook.blogspot.com/
