(Courtesy Nichalp)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The scientists agree on two points, though. The things look like cells, at least superficially. And no one is sure what they are.

“These particles have much similarity with biological cells though they are devoid of DNA,” wrote Godfrey Louis and A. Santhosh Kumar of Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam, India, in the controversial paper.

“Are these cell-like particles a kind of alternate life from space?”

The mystery began when the scarlet showers containing the red specks hit parts of India in 2001. Researchers said the particles might be dust or a fungus, but it remained unclear.

The new paper includes a chemical analysis of the particles, a description of their appearance under microscopes and a survey of where they fell. It assesses various explanations for them and concludes that the specks, which vaguely resemble red blood cells, might have come from a meteor.

A peer-reviewed research journal, Astrophysics and Space Science, has agreed to publish the paper. The journal sometimes publishes unconventional findings, but rarely if ever ventures into generally acknowledged fringe science such as claims of extraterrestrial visitors.

If the particles do represent alien life forms, said Louis and Kumar, this would fit with a longstanding theory called panspermia, which holds that life forms could travel around the universe inside comets and meteors.

science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/01/07/0711224&tid=160&tid=14

Edited by: seemslikeadream at: 1/7/06 4:51 pm

Strange redish Powder Descends On Cars in Chicago

Postby anotherdrew » Sun Jan 08, 2006 1:46 am

It's not your imagination if you've walked outside and noticed a rusty colored dust sprinkled all over your car.
...
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency sent a field agent to collect evidence of the powder.

"He and myself together, we collected a sample," Mavaraganes said. "We scraped together some, I was able to amass maybe a teaspoon full in a cup, and he took it with him."
...
"Where is this coming from? What effects is it going to have on us?" Mavaraganes asked.

Some suggested the rusty powder came with the recent rain, dirt from the southwest part of the U.S. Lab tests will tell more.

A spokesman for the Illinois EPA said the lab results on the mysterious powder should be in early next week.
...
www.nbc5.com/news/5884173/detail.html

Hmmm...

Edited by: anotherdrew at: 1/7/06 10:49 pm

(Analysis of debris from chem trails has shown some biological materials. NASA is now lying to school children about what chem trails are right on NASA's website for kids. Might this recent debris be related?-HMW)

www.carnicom.com/contrails.htm

EXTRAORDINARY BIOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS
Clifford E Carnicom
Santa Fe, New Mexico
May 02 2004

Additional Notes : Reference numerous prior articles on atmospheric biological samples published on this site during the past five years. Reference refusal of EPA to identify physical materials that have been demonstrated to contain biological materials of a similar nature. Pursuit of positive identification of nature of material continues and remains as an outstanding request. Haemin crystal testing is planned. This work is partially dependent upon recent advances that have been made in microscopy methods and equipment. Additional discussion may follow at a later date. Stem cell developments and applications, along with properties and methods of biological dessication (freeze-drying, aerosols) are now additional inherent topics of research.
