More solar activity

Postby chiggerbit » Wed Sep 07, 2005 5:29 pm

For what it is worth, it looks like there has been more solar activity. If this dude's theory is right, it could mean more serious hurricanes like Katrina.

X-15 Flare: www.n3kl.org/sun/images/noaa_xrays.gif?

Quote:
by Mitch Battros – ECTV

Just moments ago, one of the largest solar flares ever recorded has occurred. It measures somewhere between an X-15 to X-20. This comes on the heels of last night’s M-Class flare which originated from sunspot region 789. It just so happens this sunspot region is still just off the eastern limb and has not rotated to the front (Earth facing) side of the Sun.

This is a MAJOR event. Increased solar activity not only has an effect on the climate (more turbulent weather), but also on human behavior.

Sunspots and Human Behavior
by James Borges

The recent Solar Maximum gives us a wonderful opportunity to observe the Sun in action. Borderland Sciences has been investigating the relationship of the Sun and human behaviour for many years, and we are quite confident that we can predict behaviours based on sunspot fluctuations over very short and long durations within the Solar Cycle of 11 years.

Historically, research has been conducted to link the 11 year cycle of the sun to changes in human behavior and society. The most famous research had been done by professor A.L. Tchijevsky, a Russian scientist, who presented a paper to the American Meteorological Society at Philadelphia in the late 19th century.

He prepared a study of the history of mass human movement compared to the solar cycle, beginning with the division of the Solar cycle into four parts:
1) Minimum sunspot activity;
2) increasing sunspot activity;
3) maximum sunspot activity;
4) Decreasing sunspot activity.

He then divided up the agitation of mass human movements into five phases:

1) provoking influence of leaders upon masses
2) the "exciting" effect of emphasized ideas upon the masses
3) the velocity of incitability due to the presence of a single psychic center
4) the extensive areas covered by mass movements
5) Integration and individualization of the masses

By these comparisons he constructed an "Index of Mass Human Excitability" covering each year from 500 B.C. to 1922 A.D. He investigated the histories of 72 countries in that period, noting signs of human unrest such as wars, revolutions, riots, expeditions and migrations, plus the number of humans involved. Tchijevsky found that fully 80% of the most significant events occurred during the years of maximum sunspot activity.

(...)

www.borderlands.com/sun/sunspots.htm

In short an increase in solar activity might be positive as far as the Katrina aftermath, since it also increases the human turbulence (external and internal activity are seperate but interlinked)

BTW. The solar activity is confirmed on another site:

Comment added at 18:22 UTC on September 7: Old region 10798 produced one of the largest flare ever recorded today at 17:40 UTC. GOES Xray sensors displayed signs of saturation. While GOES12 has this as an X17 flare the peak was likely close to X20. Previous CMEs from this region have been very fast. Although this occurred at the southeast limb, a significant sideways impact at Earth could occur as early as before midnight tomorrow, although more likely on September 9. Active to severe geomagnetic storming is possible. We will have to wait to see if this was a proton flare as well.

dxlc.com/solar/

So we'll know in 1-2 days when the solar flare hits the earth's atmosphere. Look out for Northern Light...

I'm reading this new hurricane news, and wondering if the administration can handle two extreme hurricanes, on two different fronts. Karma builds. D.C.?

www.breitbart.com/news/20...44065.html

Either this guy is a self-promoting idiot, or else he is onto something. At this rate, it won't take long to tell. This in late this afternnon, 9/8.

by Mitch Battros – ECTV

A new X-5 Flare has blasted off from sunspot region 789, now renamed 806. This does not fare well for current tropical storms and hurricanes. ophelia

since moving to my present location seven years ago, i've kept a moderately close watch on hurricanes. i don't recall one which:

* developed in the bahamas/off florida's east coast
(as have both katrina and ophelia)

* remained basically stationary for as long as ophelia has

i welcome commentary about these aspects from those with more understanding than my own.

I'm from the Gulf Coast region - grew up in Louisiana and now live in Texas. Something strange is definitely going on with Ophelia. It is veering off to the east rather than making landfall on the FL. coast.

Either yesterday or today on CNN the weather forecaster said something that caught my attention. He said it looked like Ophelia might make a complete loop around heading east and then back south before finally moving west for landfall. He said it was extremely rare but not unheard of. He said this could bring it right across FL and into the Gulf like Katrina's path.

So, it could still hit Florida.....or even Washington DC? Yikes.

This is the fourth-largest flare in the last 15 years, Makes me wonder what the weather was like for the other three larger flares. Check the awesome picture out at this link of a solar flare in July. I'm guessing that this latest flare was even larger, but not sure. Sure am glad this latest one wasn't pointed at earth.

aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/...2609990024

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 9/9/05 8:46 am

Well, yes, but we all know that the rats are the first ones to get off the sinking ship. Hey, isn't DC low and sampy like NO?

Just looked at that link, Astra. I wonder if it is possbile that those storms off the east coast could join together in a mega storm. I suppose the cooler water would prevent that.

Ophelia: DC Slime -- Scrubbing urgently needed

C'mon people. Don't go there. I used to live in the DC area and still have friends and relatives there. The vast majority of people in the DC area are NOT causing the problems in the world. Why punish them? We shouldn't be suggesting such catastrophes on anyone, even our worst enemies. Do we want to become like them? Think about it, please. I can relate to the anger and frustration about the evils of the leadership in DC, but this is not the way to clean house.

Manxkat, I was speaking metaphorically

Postby Asta » Fri Sep 09, 2005 4:48 pm

And I don't wish harm to come to innocent people. Like New Orleans, a great number of people in DC are working class poor. Ophelia's possibly becoming a cat. 4 hurricane and ravaging DC would be The Big Easy Redux. BushCo would be outta there in a New York Second on his helicopter, looking down on the devastation with that little smirk on his face, enjoying the whole Death Thing. (I really think he gets his rocks off on this stuff, he's going back to NOLA again for the third time on Saturday and all that accomplishes are supplies being blocked from delivery at the airport and hey, MORE PHOTO OPS of him hugging and kissing caucasian survivors.)

I am not a very religious person but I have prayed and prayed for Providence to move her hand and stop this corrupt and greedy administration. I am afraid that the 2006 elections will be Republican victories again, and the 2008 presidential race will be the bells tolling of the end of any democractic form of governing in this country. The people will continue to vote for their party, even though their party is out to kill them all. It's like they've been mesmerized.

Ophelia is my way of staying sane in this mad, mad world through the use of fantasizing and metaphors. Until those methods become illegal, anyway.
