A milder explanation

Postby glubglubglub » Thu Sep 15, 2005 7:37 pm

Israel's always trying to attract more Jews to actually reside there -- the Palestinians are a demographic timebomb insofar as keeping Israel a Jewish-majority state...within the past couple years I can remember some Israeli official warning Russian Jews of the dangers of rising Russian anti-semitism and suggesting Israel as a safe location; I also dimly recall a similar appeal made to American Jews.

Given that, I'd bet that this rabbi's just following in that vein, and as kabbalah's a sufficiently rich symbological construct to let you make a plausible sounding argument for just about anything it shouldn't be impossible to make something up about why this year will be particularly terrible.
