GDNO1:

Ah, my good hopes and prayers go out to you -- and to everyone in Rita's projected path.

I've just seen that Rita has been upgraded to a Cat. 5, and gas and oil costs have ALREADY increased due to projections of shortages. Isn't price-gouging to take advantage of disasters morally reprehensible -- if not dowright illegal (well, in a society where social justice is valued over mercenary profits, anyway)?

After this, the Bush Inc. Criminal Gang ought to publicly apologize for demeaning and insulting the people of Cuba, who have shown they have a far-greater capacity for human compassion and concern for life than the Feds do, being able to coordinate mass evacuations of up to 750,000 people, providing true security for the citizens of Cuba as opposed to the posturings and self-absorbed rhetoric of US officials.

Anyway -- Stay safe and let Spirit be your sanctuary and guide -- don't try to change what you can't -- that'll just stress you out and wear you down. Be well and strong!
Starman

The craziness

Postby GDN01 » Wed Sep 21, 2005 11:22 pm

I am in desperate need of a shot of tequila!!

My kids will be leaving in the next few hours to go to Dallas. I am very relieved to have that settled and both of them are okay with going.

Already - the communication systems are messing up. Both land lines and cell phones. I am guessing it is because of the overload on the system - but I find it odd to be losing communications with the hurricane still 2 days out from landfall. It has made me wonder....

The lady who needs oxygen - we got her some tanks in that don't require electricity. I don't remember what it is called. But anyway, she is refusing to leave, but at least she has the oxygen. And we've got someone assigned to stay with her and get her to the hospital if needed.

Totally unrelated to the hurricane - but here's what topped off my evening: A man had called my office a couple of times this week, saying he was in crisis and needed to see me, and had been a client at this non-profit before. I've been too busy to check the records. So when he called again tonight, I told him if he absolutely had to see someone, I would stay and see him, but after this evening, it would have to wait to next week. He agreed to come right away. Everyone else had left the office. As soon as I let him in the building, I had a bad feeling about the man. Something wasn't right. As we entered my office he started to shut the door behind us. I told him to leave it open since we were the only ones there. As he began to talk, it became clear that 1. He had never been a client there. 2. He was probably lying about why he had come in. 3. He was drunk. He became increasingly erratic in his behavior and I could detect a hostility that would bubble up every now and then. I asked him if he had been drinking and he said yes, so I told him he needed to leave. It took several times of me telling him to go before he finally did - and I was scared that he was not going to go willingly. I was shaking in my boots! I deal with troubled people but this was different. I felt in danger. As soon as he left I gathered all my work and left. I was DONE! This was the last thing I needed to deal with tonight. I know in times of crisis, troubled people have more difficulties than stable people, and maybe the current crisis added to his problems. But I won't be offering to meet with an unknown client - alone in the building again!

So now I'm home. Trying to figure out what I need to do to get ready to ride out this storm with my dog, and keep doing all that needs to be done to keep people safe. This will be a long two days of waiting and wondering, and preparing.

First time 2 Cat 5 hurricanes in one season sat in Gulf

Postby Col Quisp » Thu Sep 22, 2005 12:22 am

Even the scientists are baffled! This is scary. I hear a HAARP playing in the distance...

Rita, Katrina hit deep, warm spots that fueled hurricanes

BY SETH BORENSTEIN

Knight Ridder Newspapers

WASHINGTON - (KRT) - Hurricane Rita, following in Katrina's wake, zipped from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane in 30 hours - the storm equivalent of a racecar going 0 to 100 in nothing flat.

That's because Rita and Katrina both found the perfect hurricane fuel - ultra-deep, super-warm water - and then lingered there, storm researchers said.

The result: For the first time in one hurricane season, two Category 5 hurricanes powered across the Gulf of Mexico toward the U.S. coast.

Both storms hit what scientists call the Loop Current, an annual 100-mile swath of 82-degree water between the Florida Keys and the mouth of the Mississippi River that's 300 feet deep, said Frank Marks, the director of the Hurricane Research Division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Normally, warm water is about 125 feet deep.

That deep pool of warm water "is enough to make a really nasty hurricane," said Hugh Willoughby, senior hurricane scientist at Florida International University.

Most of the time, hurricanes cross the loop, intensify somewhat, then get back to cooler waters where they weaken.

But both Katrina and Rita "are going straight down the slot like a barrel of a shotgun," Marks said.

Adding to the storms' intensity is the absence of high altitude winds, which would have weakened them.

The effect of the warm Gulf waters was predictable. But Katrina left a mystery in its wake.

As Katrina passed over an eddy of the Loop Current in late August, it should have cooled the water by about 5 degrees Fahrenheit. It didn't and that surprised scientists.

Rita is predicted to hit the same eddy on Thursday afternoon.

NOAA's buoys and thermometers are waiting.

---

© 2005, Knight Ridder/Tribune Information Services.

I saw that Florida hurricane expert on tv last night, and he said the circumference (my word) was supposed to increase, so that the tropical storm outer edges would hit much sooner than the hurricane itself, possibly even today.

thanks everyone. I put my kids on the road just an hour ago. I'm sitting here trying to figure out what needs to be done first and what can be put aside - and doubting my decision to stay. We are looking at a direct hit here now. Maybe the course will still change.

If you recall, the Katrina veered at the last minute, so to speak. Not that this was any comfort to the folks in Mississippi who took the full brunt. I see the current "cone" of projection as being somewhat more northerly but this changes regularly.

Stay safe and keep us posted.

More on the storm

Postby rapt » Thu Sep 22, 2005 11:03 am

I just received this a few minutes ago; though it would be interesting to a few of you RI folks.

Also, according to Ruppert's latest, he has received some emails from oil industry insiders, some of whom expect a serious collapse of economy due to destruction of refineries. (No fuel means cold and starvation.)

Interesting prediction follows:

From: Donna Williams <mydigs@alltel.net>
Sent: September 21, 2005
Subject: RITA will be one of the most destructive storms ever seen
From: Jim Haggins <hjim1012@earthlink.net>
Subject: Golden Elks Message dated 09-02-05

Hello,

Back on September 2nd, 2005 Golden Elk came to me and handed me the following message that he received telepathically (channeled). He asked me to "get it out there" as he has no Internet service. I sent it to a select group on Sept. 03, 2005 and now with what appears to be happening in the gulf, we are expanding our mailing list and including you... Golden Elk feels that it is of the utmost importance to get this information out to the world, which is why I am sending it to you today.

Namaste,
Jim H.

Earth Changes
EARTH CHANGES PROPHECY
As received by Cody Golden Elk on 9/2/2005

Today at 11:34 am, Earth-mountain time, I was shown a vision, by the Spiritual Hierarchy of Light (SHL) , of the next great hurricane to strike the U.S.

This will be one of the most destructive storms ever seen, its effects felt around the world. It will approach Houston, Texas from the southeast, and lay waste a large portion of the Texas coast, like a category 5+ hurricane.

When I asked the SHL when this would occur in linear Earth time, they only replied "soon", emphasizing that these events are like a "one, two" punch, with the recent hurricane, Katrina, which destroyed New Orleans being the "jab", and the coming hurricane hitting Houston being the much more forceful "knock out" punch. There will be some loss of life, but a much greater property destruction of oil refinery output.

The SHL wants those few Earth humans who will listen, to know that THIS IS A DIRECT STRIKE FROM THE UNIVERSAL SPIRIT UPON THE EVIL INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE FOSSIL FUEL PARADIGM (oil business). The refineries in Houston and New Orleans, for decades have polluted the oceans with noxious chemicals. Also, they produced much gasoline, which, through car emissions have caused severe pollution of the Earth's atmosphere, resulting in cascading environmental degradation. Much of the military fuels used for the evils of the U.S. Government in launching its numerous attacks worldwide (like Vietnam and Iraq) were also made in these places.

WARNING: This is the "beginning of the end" wake up call for the demise of the fossil fuel paradigm, and all the associated evil and environmental destruction it has spawned. It is time for the Secret Government to stop withholding energy technology and for greed to end. The loss of life and property will be sad, but NOT NEARLY AS IMPORTANT AS THE LESSON: GREEDY EARTH HUMANS - STOP DESTROYING YOUR ONLY HOME, THE EARTH.

This event could trigger WW 3, as the Earth Governments contend for oil in your Middle East's oil rich region.

***
This message was sent BEFORE this big storm strikes Houston (in 3-D linear Earth time) so it would be more believable to your people, once it actually occurs.

ruppert

Postby vondardenelle » Thu Sep 22, 2005 11:30 am

yeah, ruppert says this is it for the US:

"While I had serious doubts about America’s ability to recover from Katrina, I am certain that – barring divine intervention – the United States is finished; not only as a superpower, but possibly even as a single, unified nation with the arrival of Hurricane Rita."

fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/092105_rita_storm.shtml

Can't escape Peak Oil...well, nevermind that. Please cross reference the vast evidence that oil companies are intentionally shutting down refineries to boost profits. If it really is that bad, they can just reestablish the refinery capacity that they intentionally diminished.

I just want to remind people that if oil companies convince you that there is a real shortage, you won't protest when they gouge you at the pump.

read about it here:

www.consumerwatchdog.org/energy/pr/

Don't let them get away with it in the wake of this coming disaster.

Added to the refinery problem is that it is very difficult to get new ones built. No one wants one of the fart-masters in their neighborhood. Remember Pat Robertson's failed bid to build one in California? Pat should have tried for a red state location--those people aren't so conservation-minded.

For the people there who have no cars or have no money for hotels out of the area, what provisions are being made?

I'm afraid I know the answer to that question, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

I saw the governor of Texas being interviewed last night on tv, and he was so freaking smug, bragging about how much he has everything under control.
