He insisted his agency was "meeting the needs as they are communicated to us."

"I think everyone in the country needs to take a big, collective, deep breath and recognize that there are a lot of people in this state, in Mississippi and Alabama who are living under conditions that, quite frankly, I doubt any reporter in this room is living under -- no food, no water, it's hot, it's sticky, their homes have been destroyed, they don't know where they're going to go next.""

typical. the old, "by criticizing the government's efforts, you're really just criticizing the victims/being un-american" thing. what the fuck does that even mean? " I doubt any reporter in this room is living under -- no food, no water, it's hot, it's sticky, their homes have been destroyed, they don't know where they're going to go next."...yeah no shit. that's why the press and just about anyone with half a brain is criticizing FEMA's efforts. When you criticize the iraq war, you’re an unamerican asshole that’s siding with terrorists and disrespecting the troops... when you criticize the “effort” in NOLA, you’re being a whiney asshole that’s disrespecting victims of this tragedy. so basically, what, the government can just do no wrong then?

it's mind boggling that so many neocon scumbags are still suckered in by the whole "being critical of the government and their efforts is equal to treason" thing. questioning becomes "traitorous LIBERAL behavior"....ie, neocon sees someone on the news protesting the war or sticking up for sheehan or being openly critical of the NO efforts and thinks, "Stupid liberal, hippy faggot....just shut up and let them do their damn jobs. stop getting in the way with your protesting bullshit and let these people do their jobs." as if what's stopping everything from "being OK" is the criticism or protests. these are the same types that say things like, "who cares who's FAULT it is? we have to deal with what's happening NOW...so don't inject liberal politics into it....that's just disrespectful and crass..." as if not questioning the thousands being killed off in iraq is "classy".

From a Starman post

Paula Zahn boggled at FEMA director Michael Brown's declaration that the reason about 15,000 shelter seekers at the New Orleans Convention Center have gone without food or water since the day of the hurricane is because FEMA didn't even know the refugees were there until today.

That's it. EVERY time they get caught in a crime of omission it's the same get-out. "I didn't know" "I was out of the loop", and YOU prove otherwise, fuckface!
I've seen it so many times. The only thing they respect is force. A good hard kick in the balls (or, in the case of Her Majesty, a good hard kick in the cunt)

Well, seems to me this cocky bastard can be nailed AND we can launch an attack on their get out of jail free cards.

It MUST be possible to put together a collage of references and coverage of the situation in the Convention Center over the past three days. It MUST be possible to split-screen Brown and show what a lying heap of shit he is.

We only have to take down one. At present nobody breaks ranks because it is understood that no individuals will take the fall, that the protection will hold up. If we can break through the protection of Brown they will more likely turn on each other.

The results are not good enough. Bush said. Just wait - this is going to be blamed on the state and the city.
Qutb means "axis," "pole," "the center," which contains the periphery or is present in it. Not real impressive, actually. Here's from the FEMA site at www.fema.gov/about/bios/brown.shtm

Quote:
Prior to joining FEMA, Mr. Brown practiced law in Colorado and Oklahoma, where he served as a bar examiner on ethics and professional responsibility for the Oklahoma Supreme Court and as a hearing examiner for the Colorado Supreme Court. He had been appointed as a special prosecutor in police disciplinary matters. While attending law school he was appointed by the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee of the Oklahoma Legislature as the Finance Committee Staff Director, where he oversaw state fiscal issues. His background in state and local government also includes serving as an assistant city manager with emergency services oversight and as a city councilman.
