FEMA & Detention Camps......An Interesting Read

I was re-reading this essay and came across a reference to FEMA. Check out this excerpt from the excellent article, "The Hidden Face of Terrorism" from Nexus magazine, link here (www.nexusmagazine.com/art...error.html )

It quotes a passage from Michael Levine's book, 'The Triangle of Death' published August 1996. Levine worked 25 years as a DEA agent amongst other things (from his CV here www.lawsonline.net/Levine/cv.html , he must've been well embroiled in a lot of deep politics).

The quote is recounted during a discussion of options of how to facilitate political and social change in the United States.....

"How can you be so good at what you do and have so little understanding of what really pulls your strings? Don't you realize that there are factions in your government that want this to happen--an emergency situation too hot for a constitutional government to handle."

"To what end?" I asked.

"A suspension of the Constitution, of course. The legislation is already in place. All perfectly legal. Check it out yourself. It's called FEMA. Federal Emergency Management Agency. 'Turn in your guns, you antigovernment rabble-rousers. And who would be king, Michael?"

"CIA," I said.

Terrorism in the United States is one of the methods employed to generate the changes desired by Levine's CIA friend. It has provided a pretext for the introduction of draconian laws and measures previously unthinkable. Representative Henry Gonzalez recognised this fact when he made the following comment (Cuddy, p. 164):

The truth of the matter is that you do have those standby provisions, and the statutory emergency plans are there whereby you could, in the name of stopping terrorism, apprehend, invoke the military, and arrest Americans and hold them in detention camps.[/i]

Details of these plans emerged during the 1987
Iran-Contra scandal. They included executive orders providing for
suspension of the constitution, the imposition of martial law,
internment camps, and the turning over of government to the president
and FEMA.
A Miami Herald article on July 5, 1987, reported that the former FEMA
director Louis Guiffrida's deputy, John Brinkerhoff, handled the martial
law portion of the planning. The plan was said to be similar to one Mr
Giuffrida had developed earlier to combat "a national uprising by black
militants". It provided for the detention "of at least 21million
American Negroes"' in "assembly centres or relocation camps".
Recent pronouncements from the Bush Administration and national security
initiatives put in place in the Reagan era could see internment camps
and martial law in the United States.
When president Ronald Reagan was considering invading Nicaragua he
issued a series of executive orders that provided the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) with broad powers in the event of a "crisis"
such as "violent and widespread internal dissent or national opposition
against a US military invasion abroad".
They were never used. The plan, which was modeled after a plan that
Reagan and Edwin Meese had developed in California to deal with black
activists, anti-war protesters and members of the student Free Speech
Movement, involved the cooperation of a number of agencies, including
the Immigration and Naturalization Service which took steps to establish
a network of detention centers capable of holding thousands of
undocumented aliens.
Foundations are in place for martial law in the US
www.smh.com.au/articles/2...18339.html
Oliver North's Private Network
www.thirdworldtraveler.co...p_BDF.html

Lots of info out there about this. Maybe it needs a data dump entry. Anyway, these plans have been around in some form another at least since the late sixties under operations such as "Garden Plot" and "Cable Splicer" which involved military takeover of the country during time of "crisis" and round up of "terrorists" who at the time were called "militants." Here's a long article about "Cable Splicer". Worth reading.

www.namebase.org/ppost14.html

I don't know how it is structured now. It used to be that FEMA was supposed to be in charge, but FEMA is under homeland security. And, military takeover's require some skill, so the fact that Michael Brown was its head shows that someone else must surely be running things.
