Hyperdimensional Hurricanes?

Vortices are weird in general

Postby starroute » Fri Sep 16, 2005 4:59 pm

From the spin of subatomic particles, to gyroscopes and tornadoes, to the slow whirl of galaxies, rotation is one of the more pervasive and mysterious aspects of the physical world.

I don't know that I'd go along with "hyperdimensional," but I wouldn't be at all surprised if all rotating systems had unknown properties of some kind.

(But then, I also believe that momentum should be acknowledged as a basic physical property, and that if Newton had started his physics with momentum instead of force, both science and our scientific society might be in very different places than they currently are.)

No, I mean the last of the great alchemists.

But I think that deriving his science from the interests of people with guns led him to put an undue emphasis on force -- a problem we still suffer from today.

Maxwell - I had thought - enough, but you have me wondering;
and by 'three dimensions', do you mean as in a three-dimensional object, or as in something which exists or transverses three dimensions, say, diagrammatically, in a horizontal sense. ???

rain,
Yes. It's more of a conceptual thing than the maths.
It's a bit jumbled, I'm afraid.
It's Jerusalem. What's there? Is it a gateway?
It's Maxwell and his original equations, incorporating a fourth dimension.
And his early death.
And writing poetry about a Seal of Solomon in an extra dimension.
Makes sense as a symbol for a gateway. A very specific gateway, no?
And the British obsession with Jerusalem.
Didn't Mitterand build something like this?
Then there is the whole Tesla scene - Maxwell's heir.
Maybe it's my crazy mind, but it all fits together.
