I didin't know what they were either. Apparently, skin-tone filters are porn-recognition programs. Companies may install these filters to cut-down on lost-productivity as workers cruise the web during office-hours, and perhaps to reduce/eliminate liability for not creating a vice-free workspace, or to lessen liability for not being diligent/pro-active in removing the opportunity for kiddie-porn crime. Obvious home-market apps. for 'protecting' one's children. I'm surprised this NASA-type got busted. Perhaps he's not among the powerful and well-connected? (Likely). Or else, he may be a potential whistleblower being pre-emptively discredited? Maybe he 'found' or saw something and this is being done as insurance? Or perhaps he's just addicted to unapproved porn or the kiddie-variety. I wonder -- Can a skin-tone program tell the diff. between kiddie-porn and 'legal' porn? I mean., that would be one heckuva fuzzy-logic development -- or would a supervisor have to determine the guesstimate age oif the models? One snag -- Apparently kiddie-porn developers are either creating virtual-models, or disguising 'real' models as virtual-models. In some instances, it may be impossible to determine if the net-images are of real models or expertly-rendered fakes. Last I recall, the courts had provided an exception to depictions of underage models if they were computer-generated, ie. created from a program -- they wouldn't be 'real', so no crime since no actual child had been abused or exploited.
