There is a mildly crazy Australian website that initially broke a ritual abuse case here in Australia, prior to it being picked up by the mainstream press. The allegations prompted a scathing Ombudsman's report into "botched" police investigations into organised child abuse in the 1990s and the cases were subsequently re-opened. However, the website owners have been successfully sued by the Australian Ordo Templi Orientis for defamation.

The website explicitly names a (now deceased) famous gay Australian comedian and television host, Graham Kennedy, as a ritually abusive perpetrator, alongside some fairly obvious "hints" at other high-profile alleged perpetrators. Given that the website contains some pretty bizarre material about extraterrestrials, UFOs and so on, it's to be taken with a grain of salt.

However, my ears pricked up when I saw this:

Quote:
Tight security is expected to surround the launch of a controversial new book on TV legend Graham Kennedy after its author received death threats.

Rob Astbury, a former Melbourne TV sports presenter and Kennedy's ex-lover, said he had received several threats on his life, ahead of the Australian launch of King and I later this month.

...

Astbury, who lives in Thailand, said he had been shaken by the telephone death threats, adding, "A male voice, I didn't recognise, told me I would be a dead man if I returned to Australia.

The article later speculates that the death threats could be motivated by "Kennedy confidantes who still had something to hide" e.g. Astbury was about to out public closet cases, but that seems unlikely to have sparked several death threats. I'm not saying that I buy the Graham Kennedy-RA connection at all, but it seems like an interesting coincidence.

Edited by: biaothanatoi at: 10/16/06 11:55 pm
