<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://www.dehavilland.co.uk/webhost.asp?wci=default&wcp=NationalNewsStoryPage&ItemID=15061114&ServiceID=8&filterid=10&searchid=8">www.dehavilland.co.uk/web...searchid=8</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--><br><br>or:<br><br><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://tinyurl.com/dpdrw">tinyurl.com/dpdrw</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--><br><br>Lewis sex case report to criticise authorities<br>07/10/2005<br><br>A report into the handling of a multiple child sex abuse case on the island of Lewis in Scotland is expected to criticise police and social workers. <br><br>The Social Work Inspection Agency was asked by the Western Isles council to look into the investigation, which led to the failed prosecution of seven men and a 75-year-old woman. <br><br>The inquiry report is due to be published today. <br><br>The accused were charged in 2003 with sexual offences against three girls on the island, but the Crown Office dropped the charges last summer. <br><br>It is thought that today's report will reveal that the three girls were sexually abused for several years and will criticise police for the failed prosecutions.<br><br>Social workers are also expected to be rebuked for their response to the allegations of abuse. <br><br>The full extent of the allegations is only now coming to light. They include accusations of satanic practices, ritual sacrifices and child sex. <br><br>The inquiry report was due in August, but the Western Isles council delayed its publication fearing that some of its content would be distressing for children and claiming that some elements of the report were gratuitous. <p></p><i></i>
