The sacristy is a room in the chapel where vestments are kept.<br><br>Knife wounds marked an upside down cross on her neck and chest. She was stabbed about 30 times and had been choked so violently the blood vessels in her eyes had burst.<br><br>Her underwear had been pulled down to her ankles and a blood-stained altar cloth covered part of her body.<br><br>For more than 20 years, the police failed to find her killer.<br><br>The murder - and the rumours of a Satanic ritual performed in the sacristy that Easter weekend - became a local legend.<br><br>Then a woman came forward in 2003 with claims that she had been sexually abused as a child by a group of priests.<br><br>She claimed that she was molested for years and had been the victim of ritual sex abuse by a cult of clergy who dressed in nuns' clothing and held orgies.<br><br>According to the Toledo Blade, the woman said that she was forced to perform ritualistic acts in a church basement such as getting into a coffin filled with cockroaches and made to eat what she thought was a human eyeball.<br><br>She also claimed that the clerics performed an abortion on her, chopped up dogs and killed an infant and a toddler.<br><br>She fingered Robinson as an alleged member of the cult.<br><br>The police were unable to substantiate her allegations and no charges relating to the accusations were filed.<br><br>But the letter turned the spotlight back on Robinson for Sister Margaret Ann's murder. One year later, he was arrested.<br><br>Robinson, the priest who had presided over Sister Margaret Ann's funeral, went on trial last Monday and is the first priest to be prosecuted in the US for killing a nun.<br><br>Sister Margaret Ann, 71, was the caretaker of the hospital chapel, while Robinson was its chaplain.<br><br>New forensic evidence has revealed that a sword-shaped letter opener found in Robinson's room was the murder weapon.<br><br>Prosecutors told the court that the letter opener was so clean when it was seized that a police forensics officer said it appeared to have been sterilised.<br><br>However, when a medallion was peeled off, a speck of blood was found.<br><br>Using technology not available during during the original investigation, the authorities were able to match the blood stain on the altar cloth to the unique pattern created by the letter opener.<br><br>Robinson has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
