Thanks for posting that. It's available other places as well. I'm curious, does anyone know anything about the filmmakers? I think they were English but I don't even know if I've ever seen any names attached to it.

Edit: The credit given at the above site is "Yorkshire television". Still, no names. I've seen the video but it's been awhile. Are the filmmakers named? Anyone ever try to interview them?

Edited by: Dreams End at: 5/7/06 4:00 pm

Though not the reason Isachar provided this link, I should warn folks that it is the website of Edgar J. Steele, lawyer to Aryan Nations.

Here's an alternative source of the video that might be less awkward to share. franklincase.org/ It's one of the first links on the left and the site is a good source of info on the case. I'm hoping the guy who runs the site will stop in here because if anyone would know if the filmmakers of CoS have been interviewed or if the connection to Yorkshire Television and Discovery Channel have been verified, I'd expect he'd be the one.

Edited by: Dreams End at: 5/7/06 4:23 pm

DE, thanks for posting the alternate link to the video. I didn't realize who/what the host site was. I was just tracking down links to Franklin/King.

Aryan Nations makes my skin crawl.

Edited by: isachar at: 5/7/06 4:58 pm

The wiki for Yorkshire Television mentions Conspiracy of Silence but doesn't add any detail to the story.

franklincase.org got mentioned...that's good.

The wikipedia site specifically on Conspiracy of Silence has this disclaimer:

Quote:
This article or section contains information that has not been verified and thus might not be reliable. Conspiracy of Silence has been shrouded by mystery since the time it was pulled from the air to current day. I have been curious to know who indeed should be given credit for this groundbreaking documentary, but I have yet to find out. DeCamp only donates about five pages in his book The Franklin Cover-Up to Conspiracy of Silence. Here is a link to the transcription of DeCamp's writings on the documentary. Probably the most pertinent information regarding the C.O.S. documentary team was that they insisted on a face-to-face interview with former CIA Director William Colby, before they proceeded with the documentary.
Quote:
From the Franklin Cover-Up / by: John DeCamp / page 378

When the Discovery Channel program, Conspiracy of Silence, was being prepared, the British investigative team insisted that they would not go forward on the program unless they had the on-camera personal interview, and verification of Bill Colby himself, that John DeCamp was reporting the truth with respect to Franklin, and with respect to this book, The Franklin Cover-Up. Colby went on camera, and thoroughly shocked the Yorkshire TV team in how strongly he came out, risking himself, to support me and my work on Franklin.

In my previous research regarding Yorkshire I was a bit skeptical if Yorkshire was really the BBC affiliate who had made the documentary. It seems that Yorkshire was credited with more fictional works rather than non-fiction or documentary work. The Wikipedia information can attest to the latter. This discussion has re-ignited my curiosity; maybe I can dig up something new, I'll keep you guys posted.

P.S.
If anyone ever has any questions or comments related to the Franklin Case feel free to email me at webmaster@franklincase.org

Thanks. I wrote Yorkshire Television as I said...I'll certainly post any reply. I feel like this is key...and I thought Colby's statement was JUST vague enough that I couldn't be completely sure how much of the case as DeCamp lays it out he was supporting. But it's been awhile since I watched the video.

'Yorkshire was credited with more fictional works'

Postby Rigorous Intuition » Mon May 08, 2006 12:35 am

The wiki may be presenting a false impression of Yorkshire Television productions. For instance, it also is credited with Four Hours at My Lai, broadcast as part of its documentary series "First Tuesday" in 1989. "First Tuesday" ran from '83 to '93, so if Conspiracy of Silence was produced in '94 is must have been with something else in mind. Though Four Hours at My Lai does suggest that Yorkshire was turning out ambitious documentary work.
