Al-Bab

John Zada and John Bell are two Canadians of Middle East origin who have had a lifelong fascination with the Middle East. 'Al-Bab' provides their impressions of the region beyond the stale, news grabbing, conflicts that afflict it. This forum also aims to portray the people, land, and spirit of the Middle East, its past and present and sometimes its future, as its authors see it. This blog is not made so much to elicit commentary (although we welcome that), and is in fact more like a magazine, a showcase of impressions, and a patchwork of vignettes of the Middle East. It will highlight perspectives that we hope will inform and entertain those who are unfamiliar with the Middle East, and refresh those who live there.

The links are fascinating as well.

I hope they remember to write about Ghraoui Chocolatiers
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.
