I want to just tell you how nice it is here these days in my neighborhood. Since this is a mixed, Arab-Jewish neighborhood and other minorities as well, there are many Christians, and so the streets are all spotted with the colorful lights, christmas trees everywhere and little Baba Noe (that's Santa Claus in Arabic) dolls on batteries ringing bells or doing something else for the kids. At the same time, the smell of the Hannuka doughnuts is everywhere, this year they make them with a variety of frostings...mmme....and nearby I have a Moslem bakery that placed a huge pot of oil on an improvised gas oven, and throwing the dough inside, making the doughnuts right there on the spot. Interestingly, the Moslems "adopted" the Chanuka doughnuts as their Ramadan fastbreaking snack, so this year we already had doughnuts in the High Holidays (which coincided with ramadan, this year).<br><br>Most christians here are "greek orthodox" and so their main celebration is on January 6th, when the main street is shut down for a HUGE parade with costumes, fireworks, bands and what not. This is next to my apartment building, so I get to watch from the balcony.<br><br>--So best wishes for the holidays ! <br><br> <p></p><i></i>

Same to you IR, and all at RI!<br><br>I'll be having my holidays in my new community/building, which means pagan debauchery for the most part, (the good kind, mostly eating and drinking). We got together and made stockings for all the kids in the building. They were filled and hung up on the Soltice. <p></p><i></i>
