of course...and according to last night's CBS news, there were still a handfull of Americans stuck there. And since there are more Canadians and Australians living in Lebanon than Americans, the probability is higher that others are trapped too.

And those numbers discount the hundreds of thousands of citizens of non-aligned countries like the Phillipines, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. I hope that any of the countries were able to conduct evacuations.

And I reckon that since the Minister of Justice sanctioned "cleansing" south of the Litani of the untermenschen, there's nothing wrong with it.

I'm speechless ...

And, on top of this:

***
Radio Havana Cuba
www.radiohc.cu

Zionist Bombs Target Children

Beirut, July 28 (RHC)-- Nearly 55 percent of all casualties registered at the Beirut Government University Hospital in Lebanon are children 15 years of age or younger, according to hospital records. Inter Press Service (IPS) quotes Bilal Masri, assistant director of the hospital, as saying that the fatality rate was high was "because the Israelis are using new kinds of bombs which can enter shelters" -- noting that the Zionists "are bombing the bomb shelters which are full of refugees." Masri added that he believed so many children were becoming casualties because of the "widespread and
indiscriminate nature of the bombings" and because "children are least able to run away when the bombings commence."

The assistant director of the Beirut hospital said he has barely slept in the 13 days since the Israeli bombing of Lebanon began. His hospital, he noted, was functioning with only 25 percent staff because "most are now unable to get here because so many roads and bridges are bombed. Those who
are here are eating, sleeping and living here 24 hours a day because if they leave they fear they may be unable to return."

Several days ago, Jan Egeland, the United Nations emergency relief chief, toured the devastated areas of south Beirut. He described what he saw as "horrific" and said the destruction "makes it a violation of humanitarian law." Egeland said UN supplies of humanitarian aid would arrive within the
next few days, but "we need access," and "so far Israel is not giving us access."

Aid is now a matter of life and death. Masri said his hospital in the Lebanese capital would soon begin to run out of medicines and supplies. He said he was "concerned about what is to come because we cannot continue at this rate" -- noting that if the UN succeeds in opening safe passage from
the south, his hospital will be deluged with patients. According to Masri, many of the injured in southern Lebanon are suffering from the impact of incendiary white phosphorous. The Lebanese ministry of interior has officially said that the Israeli military has used this weapon -- which is
banned under international law.

****
Self-righteous arrogant Monsters;
Starman

Israeli media cites between 400 to 600 deaths in lebanon, half of which are children (that's usually the general descriptions). The apparent disregard for civilian casualties including children, reflect, IMHO, the same disregard within. Children are treated, by and large, as "objects", domestically, and I can assume that any such child, when grown up, treats herself/himself as an object and carries the need to annihilate "the child" in general, be it a child who is Israeli or even easier, a child who is "other"/enemy. In the last few years one can read a lot of essays against "people who breed too many kids" (referring usually to arab or jewish orthodox families, using the terms usually applicable to insects or animals, or better still "parasites"), and an internalized consent to the "population control" trends. While the Jewish religion makes it imperative to breed, the more the merrier, the Israeli new "neo liberal" -fascist trend, became an enemy of children, maternity, mothering, fathering, etc. this converges, in an interesting way, with fundamentalists' essentialist/racist negation of the other, with some genocidal "biblical" trends. So you have a cocktail of mostly fascists spiced up with fundies...not very good for life in general...
