"Any RIers read this book? If so, some thoughts and reviews of the subject? Bennewitz' tale is still kind of new to me." It's a good book, and that review is pretty close to my read of it. I think Bishop is in the same category as Nick Redfern, author of Body Snatchers in the Desert and On the Trail of the Saucer Spies. They admit both a true phenomenon of high weirdness and a counterfeit phenomenon of covert manipulation. Those who see ETs everywhere are going to call them debunkers, but they're simply critical thinkers in a field that doesn't receive enough critical thought. I'm reminded again of the staged abduction of <a href="http://rigorousintuition.blogspot.com/2005/05/no-time-to-think.html">Frank Fontaine</a> in 1979. Jacques Vallee's investigation led to France's Ministry of Defense. Here's part of an exchange between one of Vallee's associates and a "Mr D" of the Service Technique des Engines Tactiques in a Parisian safe house on Novemeber 14, 1980: "Will you tell me what the disappearance of Franck Fontaine was all about?"  "We refer to the operation as an Exercise of General Synthesis. A highly-placed personality has done detailed planning for it." [ He mentioned the name of a cabinet member with vast connections to the world of high technology.] "How many people were in the know?" "No more than ten to fifteen, all at a high enough level to establish what sort of manipulation was justified under the state secrets rule." "What were your objectives?" "The operation was structured around military, scientific, and political goals. It was purely national and had no impact beyond our borders." "What happened to Fontaine?" "We put him to sleep and he was kept under an altered state of high suggestibility."  "Were you also using the media? Did you have wider objectives?" "I cannot answer your question. But if this operation had been completed, the next phase would have been far worse."  "Why are you telling me all this?" "I have my own reasons." "Aren't you afraid I will publish this interview?" "Anything you publish will simply be denied." .... Naturally, this needn't be the truth, either. It could just be more of the masquerade, another layer of disinformation. All that can be said with certainty is that something is going on. And probably several somethings simultaneously. jeff i saw this movie 2 days nights ago, its a must see. i saw it on sundance channnel. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0370986/" target="top">Mysterious Skin</a> Plot Outline: A gay teenage hustler and a young man obsessed with alien abductions cross paths, together discovering a horrible, liberating truth. it deals with child molestation as well. it gets pretty brutal in some scenes but its interesting. when the scene comes that shows the drawing of the alien later in the movie look at its feet. it crosses straight back to the red, white and gray post part 2, not in a grand scheme way but its another theory. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"> btw elizabeth shue looks hot in this movie. lol. ___________________________________________ "BUSHCO aren't incompetent...they are COMPLICIT." -Me "Speaking the Truth in times of universal deceit is a revolutionary act" -George OrwellEdited by: <A HREF=http://p216.ezboard.com/brigorousintuition.showUserPublicProfile?gid=dugoboy@rigorousintuition>dugoboy</A> at: 6/5/06 11:30 am

I wanted it to be good -- based upon the subject matter -- but it really fizzled. The cinematography is superb, though, particularly the color.

I liked it, but my expectations were too high to be wholly satisfied. Great performances, though. The young kid with the glasses just broke my heart.
