I've recently been reading a lot of the info out there about the whole Skinwalker ranch affair. I haven't read the actual book yet, but I've read several of the articles and today I listened to an interview with one of the co-authors of the book and member of the NIDS team on the binnall site.

What do you all think about NIDS? It sounds pretty interesting...I saw that there were allegations that Bigelow was in good with the CIA and that that's what this was all about. I'm not convinced of that after reading what's out there so far.

But the real questions I have at the moments are these:

1. I noticed in one of the articles written by Knapp that Gorman (the rancher) purchased the ranch in 1994. When he moved into the house on the property, he noticed that there were bars on the windows, and an insane amount of locks on the doors. He also noticed that there were large stakes planted in the ground at either end of the house, with large chains attached to them...ie, the assumption was that whoever lived there before them had several large guard dogs at either end of the house.

What I'm wondering is whether or not Gorman or the NIDS team ever tracked down who lived in the house before them. I'm not sure if that info is contained in the book though.

This seems like a pretty natural assumption...to see who lived there before. it would certainly add some insight to the phenomenon.

2. photos and video footage.

does any exist? if not, why? how? or is it maybe that NIDS does have footage of some sort but hasn't released it yet.

I really can't believe this case doesn't get more attention than it does. it seems pretty legit, IMHO, and the fact that there's a very long and fairly well documented local history of extremely high weirdness in the area makes it all the more interesting.

3. the trickster angle that jeff has mentioned several times is curious. from what I've heard/read so far, the phenomenon was almost "one step ahead of them" each and every step of the way. this is one of those case that is truly mind boggling. how is this all possible? how does this work? what IS all this? the idea of it being a fake or a hoax is almost more impossible than it all actually existing.

if these events/creatures/"beings" are truly from an alternate world or another dimension or what have you, why are they killing animals, yet never harming humans? it's like Jeff's entry from a while back about the family that ended up leaving their small town after being "harassed" by a pack of "little green men"...they were never actually harmed by the phenomenon, just harassed....so what's the point of all this then? if it's just about trickery, what do "they" get out of it? and why the strange fixation on livestock?

for a while I was thinking that maybe gorman was singled out more so than another person would be because he had a degree in animal husbandry and was very meticulous about his animals' breeding habits. they mention that he was very proficient at manipulating the bloodlines of the cattle he raised...could that have something do with all this?

What are your thoughts? real? fake? hoax?
