I would initially assume that anyone who reads Rigorous Intuition would have read Wilson, especially Cosmic Trigger: The Final Secret of the Illuminati, which cover so much of the same ground as this blog. There's even a brief discussion of Artaud's There Is No More Firmament. A kind of shared cultural reference in our background. And, of course, it describes how his life was changed by Aldous Huxley, Timothy Leary, Alan Watts, and so on.<br><br>Flipping nostalgically through my old Pocket Books paperback, I rediscovered this favorite quote:<br>"Of course, the Vietnam war had begun to heat up by this time, and the government's insistence on lying about everything connected with the war had begun to erode the social fabric of the U.S. Systematic lying creates what communication scientists call a "disinformation situation," in which everybody eventually begins to distrust, demonize and diabolize everybody else."<br><br>It's in print, by the way. I read "Cosmic Trigger" over 25 years ago, and it blew my mind. I loaned it to a few people that couldn't get through it because it warped them so badly, and I stopped suggesting it to people. I still have my old copy.<br> I remember Wilson saying he was doing a radio call-in show and some woman called up and accused him of being "one of them, the illuminati".<br> He thought about it for a second and replied; "Well, now that you mention it, maybe I am!" I read the illuminatus trilogy in my v late teens and it blew me away.<br><br>It just made so much sense, not in a realistic this is true way, but ina figure it out yourself and deal with what comes next sort of way.<br><br>Kind of killed off the last shreds (and the most stubborn,) of dogma. Well they are still hanging on, but mostly I find them good for a laugh.<br><br>So I got everything of his i could get my hands on.<br><br>The coincidence factor was really weird, some bits really paralleled my life in a bizarre way. i guess thats one of RAWs trips tho. Not in an event like way, cept some weird godess appearances that were a bit similar...<br><br>More the ideas, and some things that were going on.<br>But I think having read RAW was part of what kept me sane, ish. Years later in some heavy times. All that stuff about noise interfering with signals and co-creating reality, along with the outside your head part (wherever that starts<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :evil --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif ALT=":evil"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> ), was still ticking away and making me think...<br><br>RAW is good value.<br><br>Its pretty hard to have a closed mind when your fave writer for years said question everything even this "question everything" bullshit. <p></p><i></i>

Did you know Fernando Poo is a real place? Now called Bioco, and part of Equatorial Guinea. A lot of stuff on the internet about it, which I assumed to be an elaborate hoax until I double checked w/ Encyclopedia Americana.<br><br>I reread Illuminatus while I was on vacation. At one point in my late teens, it almost literally ate my brain. I've read a lot of books, but this one is a part of me. Is anyone aware of any fan fiction that takes the major characters into the 21st century? George Dorn is certainly in his 50s now, and Hagbard is probably dead. <p></p><i></i>

I liked the second volume a lot. It is perhaps my favorite of the series, although I read Cosmic Trigger 1 until it fell apart, back in my teens. Volume three on the other hand was a big disappointment. The last RAW book that really captivated me was _Everything is Under Control, 1999 or so. I wish he had continued with his Historical Illuminatus series. <p></p><i></i>
