posting change coming

Postby Rigorous Intuition » Sun Jan 22, 2006 11:13 am

In order to better maintain the board I'm going to be switching the "who may post" option to registered members only. I've been resisting this, but I think it's become necessary.

You should expect to see the change by Monday.

Glad I registered! And, I can understand why you need to do this Jeff. Thanks for providing this forum, and for all the work required to monitor it. And, on a side note, let's hope tomorrow's elections in Canada don't depress us all.

Hmm, previously when I posted it listed me as "unregistered" and I was going to ask how you register, but now I see I'm registered. Mysterious. So never mind!

Edited by: gotnoscript at: 1/23/06 7:06 am

Changing Postage Rates

Postby Floyd Smoots » Wed Jan 25, 2006 11:38 pm

O.K., Jeff, you've run off the newbies, paranoids, tinfoil-hatters, and freethinkers; but, outside of having the power to "lock" the threads, how have you stopped the gatekeepers, disinfo agents, trolls, and/or other disruptive crazies out here in the "blogosphere"??? Just asking, don't you know.

I mean, I think, they could "Register" just like any other "Registered Alien", and then, continue their merry pranksterisms, as long as you don't happen to notice them, or they manage to remain unreported to you.

P.S., After Jew-Haters, Nazis, Satan Worshippers, Etc., Et Al, I think you should now ban ANYONE who is so "Verbally Challenged", that they feel they "HAVE" to use any of these STUPID blogspot.com emoticons to express what they are trying desperately to communicate. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

........Uncle Floyd

Quote:
...I could be wrong.

Well, you have been wrong before

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Actually, I do agree with the exception of the above example. The smiley face can be useful for denoting sarcasm, something that seems particularily difficult to convey, but good for breaking the tension once in a while in forums like this. The laughing heads, however, seem most often used to mock or annoy.

O.K., I'll concede you the smiley face. I thought I had made a mistake once, back in '69, but alas, I was wrong.
........tinFloyd hatter
