question re browsers and the blog

Postby Rigorous Intuition » Fri Feb 10, 2006 3:10 am

I received an email tonight with this comment:

I use Netscape as my browser and can't get anything later than the Jan. 26 post. When I go to Explorer your latest post
comes up.

Anyone know why that might happen? Anyone else using Netscape and finding a similar problem?

I use Firefox and I sometimes have to hit reload to see the current version. I assume this has to do with caching, but I don't know for sure -- and it can be flukey. For example, when I went to the blog just now, the latest posting was showing that it had 16 comments. But when I went to the comments page, that was showing only 11 comments -- until I reloaded it, and then it also showed 16.

So it isn't necessarily a Netscape/IE difference for the person who sent you the email. It could just be that they hadn't used IE recently enough to have a cached version.

Jeff,

In Firefox, I can see the last post in one of the archive sections was today, but clicking into the section shows me the last post as Jan 27th. It's like a two week delay. Open Data is fine though.

ETA- I realize this is in reference to the Forum and not the blog. Is it just me?

Edited by: Cosmic Cowbell at: 2/10/06 1:06 am

using firefox and have had the same intermittantly since the new year..clearing my cache helps,so at a guess either blogger has changed their site and made a mistake with some html tags that cause problems for non-IE users or the latest firefox update has a bug that causes this behaviour.
as far as i know netscape and firefox use pretty much the same code for their browsers.
The forum seems free of problems at the moment,i only see this on the blog..
