Lunatic Fringe MIA?

Postby Corvidaerex » Mon Jun 26, 2006 3:29 pm

I admit to a fascination with the "lunatic fringe" conspiracy message board Godlike Productions.

It was there on Friday. Now it's gone. Anybody know the story?

(The site has always been sketchy as hell. Among other mysteries, it reportedly gets hundreds of thousands of page views per day, yet it has no advertising. Google ads or banner ads would pull in a *lot* of cash ....)

I was there on Saturday night and there was a stickied post that mentioned it would be down possibly for a few hours while it moved to a new host. Though that it's been much longer than that - at least in internet time - is beginning to make me wonder whether it's coming back.

"Sketchy as hell." Yeah, there hasn't been much worthwhile there, especially lately. But it makes for a sometimes entertaining and often frustrating window into the disinfo and hoax culture of the conspiracy demi-monde.

I am coming to the conclusion that every nation needs a 'Ministry of Truth' in their national government. This ministry would act somewhat as an ombudsman, remaining neutral while ferreting out the truth about any issue affecting the government or society.

Anyone would be able to apply to the 'Ministry of Truth' for a hearing on a topic and/or an investigation and there would be a time of one year before they get a full accounting or resolution of the matter to the extent possible.

This would

a) Discourage government and others from lying and misleading the public

b) Set a value to truth where none exists at present

c) Validate those who question the Official Version of events.

I also believe it would save lives, end wars and benefit society in countless other ways.

GC

Edited by: greencrow0 at: 6/26/06 1:45 pm

Ministry of Truth

Jeez Crow, George Orwell's 'Ministry of Truth' is anything but. If they introduced a ministry by that name, I'd know for sure we were fucked.
