disturbing freight

Postby Pirx » Wed Jun 28, 2006 8:36 pm

There's a large complex of truck stops not too far from where I live, passing by it, I've seen all manner of odd objects and machinery tied to flatbeds moving through the area, and often wondered what they are and how they are used. But what I saw an hour ago suggested some disturbing possibilities. Two flatbeds were exiting the interstate and heading into one of the facilities. Their cargo appeared from the front to be ordinary rectangular shipping containers, brand new, with fresh grey paint. The same type we see all the time, each about half the length of the flatbed itself. There were three on one trailer and two on the one following it. As I passed it I saw the thing that set them apart from other such containers I'd seen: windows. Not just windows, but barred windows. Verticle and horizontal bars, about eight inches apart, welded into the 3 foot square windows cut into the sides about 4 feet high from the containers bottom. I see all types of livestock transport around this part of the country, but this seemed made for one particular species.
I couldn't tell if there were windows on the other side, and didn't see any other doors or ventilation ports in it.

Anyone else seen these?
I'm tempted to run down and snap some photos if the trucks are still there.

If you can do it safely, snap some pictures. Try to include the tires of the truck and/or other fairly standard sized items for references of scale.

Also, snap a photo of the side of the one or both of the tractors if either are still hitched to get the DOT number, company, etc. And, the back of the trailer and anywhere else you see identifying marks would be good.

Again, only do this if you feel safe doing so.

If you think its a little risky but want to do it anyway. Have some friends help you. One or more can watch from a short distance with a cell phone and a camcorder or other camera recording you and the surrounding area as you go. And, if you have a clever talker, bring them with you.

Oh, and if anyone asks what you're doing, just say that those things look like cages for some kind of NWO concentration camp. But, if you notice someone approaching, try to ask them first what the heck they are. Either way would put them on the defensive first.

Again, a clever talker could do better on the spot than me guessing based on assumptions of what you'd run into.

You don't need to be getting up on anything like that with a camera, so keep your distance unless you want a visit to your local DHS office..

Jeff, I'm reminded of your post "This is only a drill..."
rigorousintuition.blogspo...drill.html

Took a camcorder down to the truck stop, intending to get the shipping co. and relevant DOT info, but they were gone.

Nothing intimidating or secret about the place, just a big, public overnight and fueling depot. If anyone was concerned for secrecy, they'd have tarped the containers. But they were apparently hauled over I40 and/or I75 for all to see.
Maybe that's the point.

Hope I don't see any more, but I'm keeping an eye out.
