beliefs

You believe Fox News et.al. telling us that this "bogeyman" is a dire threat. I believe the Pakistani authorities who really had no reason to lie about this. I also believe my own eyes. Look at the last known photos of Osama taken in December 01. His skin is literally yellow/green his eyes are sunken and he has no flesh on his cheek bones. In short--the closest thing to death warmed over. Since that time I have seen no photos of him. The ridiculous "video" with the fake animation dragged out around election time in 04 is just hilarious. If you believe this stuff, more's the shame. He said he had no part in 9-11. I believe him. I don't believe what the media says. Much information has come out lately giving ample proof the Al-CIA-DUHHH is a concoction of the Rovian media to drive us into "war without end". Too bad to see you expressing such desperate fear for this media phantom. Like I said, the real "bogeymen" all live here.

Dark. - you and T. are talking about two different OBL's. you're talking about the flesh and blood OBL person which may or may not be alive or even important, while T. is talking about the political/media construct entity, which is surely still alive and important for a majority of the american voters.

as for who is able to manuipulate the media entity - that could be done by: the bushgang, real jhadis, the real OBL or even others.

the media entity could be killed by proving beyond a reasonable doubt the the real person OBL is dead, but the word of some pakistani officials isn't good enough, granted it may be surpresed truth and there is reason to think so, but I don't feel it's 100% a sure thing.

Edited by: anotherdrew at: 4/22/06 6:12 pm

Yes, this makes sense

Postby darkbeforedawn » Sun Apr 23, 2006 12:42 am

Guess I jumped to conclusions. It's not a very fine distinction. I should have read more carefully. These days it seems like were are living in a metafictional maze. It's difficult for the average Joe (that's me) to discern at any given moment the purpose of the all the various government and corporate spins constantly being given to what passes for "reality" and exactly whose storyline is being promoted for what purpose. I long for the good old days (that probably never existed) when real things happened and other people did their best to tell you the truth about it. Old Bin Ladin does make a wonderful bogeyman, though, I agree Thoughto. Hollywood couldn't have done better--unless of course you wanted to talk about Henry Kissinger. Now there's real nightmare material.

Weldon is of course the guy who spearheaded Able Danger hearings in Congress... but I think he just acted as a conduit (is that the right word?) for people in the military who wanted that story to be known. He is said to be close to military circles. When he's talking about Osama and Zarqawi in Iran, it's natural to think he's being used as a conduit for Pentagon disinfo.

You're right, darkbeforedawn; it's all a daunting mess, and I'm often hasty to forget that everyone approaches a mess in their own way.

Anyway, moving on...

I'm pretty familiar with Well-done.
