haha that was great, but WHY do they employ such retarded press officers/speakers. If you're going to try and keep the general public scared at least have someone who can convincingly pull it off, otherwise you just shoot yourself in the foot. Are they really that dumb?

The woman who was shown, telling the camera how scared she was, looks to be the equivalent of a talking head telling everyone how to feel about the situation.

Interesting how CNN went from one thought crime to another potential catastrophe when there was no real disaster to be found anywhere. Sounds as if they picked these guys up for thought crimes? And the guy pointing to his temples seemed mentally deficient from what was shown on the video.

Even without Stewart, this was funny. Or would be if there weren't people actually believing it.

Another Keystone Cops moment brought to you by the B*sh Admin.

Yeah, but as with all of Stewart's Schticks, laughter provides a placebo for real outrage. So many of my mainstream lefty/liberal friends simply
EAT THIS CRAP UP!! Yet when faced with the true reality - that these
times are FAR from humorous - there is little response.

Who is going to risk their job?
Who is going to actually research beyond Salon.com?
Who is going to do more than vote a straight Democrat ballot?
Who is willing to throw out their TVs? Thurn: Don't disagree one bit. Said exactly the same here many times.

And even in that respect this 2 minute video shows everything that is wrong today.

BTW, where's your name from? I've got an album with that title.

Pugzleyca3 said:

Quote:
Interesting how CNN went from one thought crime to another potential catastrophe when there was no real disaster to be found anywhere. This does sound like a thought crime, doesn't it? Which, when one throws in the EU's criminalizing of anything related to doubt or even questions regarding the Holocaust, is suggestive of a pattern, a movement perhaps?

Gonzalez really upsets me. I have a physical reaction to the guy. I know his kind. I've met his type all over. He has never fitted in. Few friends. Probably been bullied. A lot of shame in his mind. And he's out for revenge. I don't rule anything out while he's steering. It's all possible.

Edited by: HMKGrey at: 6/27/06 2:07 pm

What Album?

Postby thurnandtaxis » Tue Jun 27, 2006 4:10 pm

Curious about the band/album.

I took the name from the references to the fictional Trystero family's historical predecessor and rival in Pynchon's "Crying of Lot 49".

The Trystero family created the underground postal system W.A.S.T.E. a communication network at heart of Pynchon's fictional conspiratorial web.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thu...tal_System

If you haven't read any Pynchon, The Crying of Lot 49 is a great place to start. Short, witty, and breezy it cuts to the heart of the cryptocratic maze of post-industrial, post-war America. Though the much denser
Gravity's Rainbow is the ne-plus-ultra of this author's dissection of
the post-modern malaise.

Also, the Thurn and Taxis family were brewers, but, sadly their fine rye lager is no longer imported here to the States.

Edited by: thurnandtaxis at: 6/27/06 2:12 pm

Thanks for the info HMK, I'm something of a sound/music afficianado.

I've heard great things about Volcano!

And actually their label-mates, A Hawk and A Hacksaw, played a show
at my loft here in Brooklyn in 2004.
