"We need to have the militancy that says 'We're not going to lose a city, " Gingrich said. Gingrich said in the coming days he plans to speak out publicly and to the administration from his seat on the Defense Policy Board about the need to recognize that America is in World War III. He lists wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, last week's bomb attacks in India, North Korean nuclear threats, terrorist arrests and investigations in Florida, Canada and Britain, and violence in Israel and Lebanon as evidence of World War III. The media's resounding silence in the face this continuing horror should be all we need to know. They are not merely clueless fools, they are involved up to their eyeballs. Crap, if this gets worse I think it's going to trigger all the stuff I thought I'd buried on 9-11. crap crap crap

Welcome to the next phase of the operation. I had the misfortune of talking to someone at a party this past weekend -- a woman in her 30s, mother of a young girl. I wandered by after the discussion had taken a turn to politics. "We should just bomb them all. Kill all of them," she said. "What about the kids?" I asked. "You think it's okay to kill children?" "Those kids grow up to be just like their parents. Those kids will be the next ones to fly a plane into one of our buildings." I realized I had to get the fuck away from her as fast as possible.

But I've talked about this here before, and don't like imposing on the RI community. Thing is, it's worse when it's someone you love, someone you would like to have in your life. It hurts terribly. You have to walk away, but it's not like walking away from a stranger, you know? I feel like this country is divided as never before, even during the Civil War. I know other families who manage to keep politics out of things, but when you have a die-hard right-wing who spouts their ideology every chance they get, it's hard to be silent.
