police state begins to take physical form...

Postby 5E6A » Wed Sep 20, 2006 12:55 pm

The coming police state begins to take physical form. Preemptive abroad, preemptive domestically. All aboard the disappearing express for any who are not with 'us'. This is from a lengthy article on Dissident Voice. You'll need to scroll dow to get to this part:

The Web and the New "Enemy Within"

As part of its drive toward a fascistic state, the regime has found a new "Enemy Within" -- and it’s not just the Muslim Americans targeted for arrest, the Mexicans targeted for round ups and deportations, or the Blacks, Native Americans and "gang members" targeted for prison.

It’s what they now call the "homegrown terrorist" -- apparently a most dangerous kind of terrorist, according to The Los Angeles Times; one almost impossible to track; one with no formal ties to known "networks"; one with no particular religion; a self-radicalizing "terrorist" whose "terrorist breeding ground" is the Internet and whose piper is not just "Osama Bin Laden," but the radical writer, the blogger, and the so-called "conspiracy theorist."

The BBC, in the opening line of a piece entitled US plans to 'fight the net', states it plainly: "Bloggers Beware."

The LA Times reports -- with a straight face -- "US officials said the enemy from within was posing a new challenge and a new danger."

The self-radicalized new "threat" doesn’t fit previous "profiles," and the Feds are working overtime to build a new profile for these misfits. The Times says that according to one "terrorism expert" it’s "very difficult to find someone like that, someone not from the Middle East, not converted to any religion."

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales made it clear; the new target is those who "are radicalized over the Internet." Citing the "threat" of "home grown terrorists" FBI director Robert Mueller said the FBI is focused on understanding the "radicalization" process.

L.A. police chief William Bratton plans to build a new national anti-terrorism training academy for cops to reinforce the idea of "getting the bastards before they get us." The Attorney General backed Bratton, framing it this way, "We know local police departments are in the best position to identify home grown radicals, so our network will be led by them."

In other words, if you’re reading this essay -- or writing essays like this one -- you’re a potential target; you may be engaged in a process of self-radicalization. If so, the FBI wants to "understand" you. They want to know what makes the thought criminal tick.

Make no mistake; thought crime, much of it bred by the relatively free flow of information on the Net, is costing the neo-fascists dearly and creating a hell of a "breeding ground" for "home grown terrorists" -- which is to say it is helping to create a social base for mass resistance to the emergence of home grown fascism and imperial war. A recent Zogby poll shows that 52% of Americans now question the "official story" of the 9/11 attacks, even as an overwhelming majority oppose the military occupation and colonization of Iraq.

This free flow of information is what the Bush regime calls "Subcultures of conspiracy and misinformation."

Where oh where is Shrubbageddon? He would feel vindicated at this point I think. He has been saying, along with a few of us others here, that they are watching us right now! Have been for some time now according to "Herr Boosh". If you dont think they will actually carry out some of this Darth Vader Death Camp shit, you are sadly mistaken. Pretty soon we will have CIA/FBI created "homegrown terror cells" commiting bombings and killing on a large scale, and blaming it on U.S. citizens, giving the PRETEXT to give us martial law....why bother with another 911 when they can just hit a couple NFL games or expld some buses and "voila".....Police State. Just add catalyst/pretext.

Quote:
Its a simple matter of Problem=Reaction=Solution....

Alex Jones 1999

It is a simple rule of the universe that if you push in on one end, it bulges out on the other. The more you react negatively to violent acts like terrorism the more you create the conditions for it to flourish. The more repressive you make a society the more you breed those individuals who you are reacting to in the first place.

Right-wingers are called reactionary for this very reason. They are like the paranoid psych patient who's thought distortions create the very hallucinations he reacts against.

I learned this lesson when I was young. I was having a lot of headaches and I noticed that the more I reacted against physical pain the worse it was. Eventually I learned to "look" at the pain inwardly, to face it and do my best to accept it. I don't have those headaches any more and the thankfully few times in my life I've experienced great pain the notion that the best way to cope is not to turn away inside but to face it. It works, it works on many levels. I happen to think it applies to the larger society also.

The 2-billion-dollar contract is the cornerstone of the Secure Border Initiative known as SBInet, which is designed to give US authorities greater control of the country's 9,600 kilometres of borders to the north and south.

Lawmakers have said the initiative is a critical national security issue, designed to shore up porous borderlines over which malevolent would-be terrorists could smuggle almost anything they wanted with little risk of getting caught.

But the hi-tech defence array would also clamp down on the largely unrestricted flow of undocumented immigrants from Mexico into the US - a huge political problem that is one of the central issues in the critical mid-term congressional elections set for November.

The contract was considered one of the most important for defence- related companies because spending by the Department of Homeland Security is increasing much faster than that of the Pentagon.

Boeing reportedly won the contract over an array of rivals because it promised that its chains of towers would work better than competitors' plans to police the border using unmanned drones or blimps. Boeing touted its plan as being more ready for immediate implementation than those of rivals Lockheed Martin Corp, Northrop Grumman Corp, Raytheon Co and Ericsson.

The first stage of the new security measures will be introduced in a border area in the southwestern state of Arizona, and is designed to clamp down on one of the most heavily used crossing points for illegal immigrants.

Projected to cost some 80 million dollars, the pilot scheme will install a combination of sensors, cameras, fences, vehicle barricades and small unmanned aerial vehicles in the desert south of Tucson, Arizona.

Under the Boeing plan, towers would be built along the border with radar systems to watch for movement, as well as cameras that could zoom in on movements to determine whether the sighting was a vehicle, animals or people.

Ground sensors to detect movement, sound or simply contact would also be installed, particularly where tree coverage would make radar and cameras less effective, Wayne Esser, who led the Boeing bid, told The New York Times.

Critics point out however that Homeland Security has a history of failed initiatives that did not work as planned and far exceeded the initial budgets.

"The administration has spent 429 million of the taxpayer's money to try and secure our borders with two already-abandoned border security programs," Democratic Representative Bennie Thompson told The Washington Post. what can people do

Postby blanc » Thu Sep 21, 2006 9:04 am

the net stays alive because of commercial interest, because of advertising and sales. what people can do if blogging is threatened is to abandon the market place. (and chuck out the tv, leave the papers on the 'news' stand.)

blanc, you said it.

Buy only what you need, and only make purchases at the few remaining mom n' pop stores.
