Amazon Stonehenge suggests advanced ancient rainforest culture
By Rhett Butler, mongabay.com
May 14, 2006

The discovery of an ancient astrological observatory in Brazil lends support to the theory that the Amazon rainforest was once home to advanced cultures and large sedentary populations of people. Besides the well-known empires of the Inca and their predecessors, millions of people once lived in the forests and shaped the environment to suit their own needs.

news.mongabay.com/2006/0514-amazon.html

New Yorker on Fawcett's Fate

Postby JD » Tue May 23, 2006 4:49 pm

There was a fantastic article about explorer Percy Fawcett in the New Yorker some months back. Unfortunately not online (or at least I can't find it).

Very worth tracking down and reading if this subject is at all interesting to you.

Fascinating to see how Fawcett went from being a highly respected, to being considered a nut after his death, to now being vindicated.......

This should never be forgotten when exploring ideas around us.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percy_Fawcett
