For some reason the pic of Hong Kong reminds me of Bladerunner! Joe -just me being nosy again I was wondering if you liked Midnight Oil or the Motels? The Paul Kelly stuff is great and so is the info about Kevin Carmody-very interesting!

To your house in Kensington
It was always 95 degrees

All that summer you were cool

I'm standing on the street of early sorrows

You never know just what you've lost
Until it's yours and then it's dust
But you remain and never rust

ah. pegged me.

added that to my playlist for the trip right before my last post in this thread. (updating the POD was the only real reason i was online to begin with) it was in my brain as the common element emergent from your songs already posted and one of our previous semi-conversations.

Home now. Ran all around Ohio on my way, which accounts for it taking twice as long as normal. (423 miles all said)
had business and pleasure to attend to.
y'know. Sods to stake, plans to make, tokes to take and secret hands to shake, etc.
33 to Rainbow lake, back to 7 to Point Pleasant to 35 to 32 to 104 Sunfish Creek to Lake White (Governor's Lodge) to 23 to 270/71 to 23 (again) to Delaware Dam, haunted fucking place, worse than ghosts, my crickets' buzz (ask Jeff) picks up the distinct radioactive insanity of blacker magics thereabouts, you should never go there at night as i did, serious, to 15 to 75 to 275 to 6mile...

and two joints left, shortly one...

didn't see any coppers. 'cept one on 75 and some guy from Ontario ahead of me gave me warning (brake lights) before i had the chance to blow past 'im. Trooper exited before i got too close anyhow.

stuff from me tomorrow.

p.s.

comrade Z, THAT is my NEW favorite redneck bar. they don't follow the smoking ban in Ohio. plus my cousin is a local celebrity there, so's i know everyone.

I've been listening to Paul Kelly for over half my life.

I love this song for roadtrips:

From St Kilda to Kings Cross

From St Kilda to Kings Cross is thirteen hours on a bus
I pressed my face against the glass and watched the white lines rushing past
And all around me felt like all inside me
And my body left me and my soul went running

Have you ever seen Kings Cross when the rain is falling soft?
I came in on the evening bus, from Oxford Street I cut across
And if the rain don't fall too hard everything shines just like a postcard
Everything goes on just the same

Fair-weather friends are the hungriest friends
I keep my mouth well shut, I cross their open hands

I want to see the sun go down from St Kilda Esplanade
Where the beach needs reconstruction, where the palm trees have it hard
I'd give you all of Sydney Harbour (all that land, all that water)
For that one sweet promenade

And where om St Kilda Esplanade did he wasnt to see the sun go down from?

Here:

I'd give you all of Sydney Harbour (all that land, all that water)
For that one sweet promenade

So would I.

Thats the view from the pub, or close to it.
Looking due west - awesome sunsets over the bay.

Thats another view down the esplanade.

Happy New Year Zhivkov, hope its a good one.

Here's some more Paul Kelly lyrics.

Little Decisions

Hard times are never over
Trouble always comes
Still I'm looking forward
To tomorrow when it comes
I've done a little damage
To myself, I didn't care
There are things a man can't manage
And that's the devil's share

Little decisions are the kind I can make
Big resolutions are so easy to break
I don't want to hear about your big decisions

Work a little harder
Keep your mind on death
Get your things in order
Take a deeper breath
If drinking is the problem
Then drink a little less
If guilt becomes a burden
Find a friend, confess

Little decisions are the kind I can make
Big resolutions are so easy to break
I don't want to hear about your big decisions

Bicentennial (Paul Kelly again)

A ship is sailing into harbour
A party's waiting on the shore
And they're running up the flag now
And they want us all to cheer

Charlie's head nearly reaches the ceiling
But his feet don't touch the floor
From a prison issue blanket his body's swinging
He won't dance any more
Take me away from your dance floor
Leave me out of your parade
I have not the heart for dancing
For dancing on his grave

Hunted man out on the Barcoo
Broken man on Moreton Bay
Hunted man across Van Diemen's
Hunted man all swept away

Take me away from your dance floor
Leave me out of your parade
I have not the heart for dancing
For dancing on his grave

Duke Ellington -- Mood Indigo

Nina Simone -- Mood Indigo

Mood Indigo lyrics
(Writers: Eaton/Mills/Bigard)

You ain't been blue; no, no, no.
You ain't been blue,
Till you've had that mood indigo.
That feelin' goes stealin' down to my shoes
While I sit and sigh, "Go 'long blues".
Always get that mood indigo,
Since my baby said goodbye.
In the evenin' when lights are low,
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
'Cause there's nobody who cares about me,
I'm just a soul who's
bluer than blue can be.
When I get that mood indigo,
I could lay me down and die.

(Deaths in Custody, by Trevor Nickolls)

Southern trees bear strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.

Pastoral scene of the gallant south,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.

Here is fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.

Hi OP ED -Joe H and everyone-thanks so much for the lyrics, info and new pics very interesting! hope you are all doing great- I love Duke Ellington along with some older performers like Ella Fitzgerald Billie Holliday and Satchmo-many others I could think of but my brain seems to only work at one speed anymore-slooow- great pics of OZ (hope it doesnt offend if i call it that Joe-i have always wanted to go there-the closest i will prob get is having some online friends in Sydney, Perth and Aukland NZ -those smoking bans irritate the shit out of me also OE-but I am soon to find out if i have lung cancer-so far chest xrays are planned for weds-so perhaps i shouldnt bitch! I am definitely going to look into more of the Paul Kelly music Joe-thanks all of you Perelandra included for the great lyrics and other great stuff-some of the pics i had last night -i thought looked great at first-but when i posted them here a couple were so-so so sorry about that-hope to chat with you all soon and again happy new year-with my OCD i will prob be saying HNY to folks until the 15th or so-peace and love-Z and i will try to do better on the pics next time-still like hk,prague and the kathmandu. that is great about your cousin OE-i am presuming you get along? sorry i am always so nosy-my brother is a good bassist but never really found a band to play in-but of all things his nest door neighbor has actually recorded music and sometimes they practice together-no gigs though-i think my bros neighbors stuff is on some site that you can download for a buck or something-best to you all wont say HNY this time -but you know it is killing me to not do so:-)ps i really love the last two images-of course this whlole thread has been great for images but those two really stand out-i have never seen work like that before.

Fuck!! Good luck with that.

I'm giving up the durries soon. Some time in the next few weeks I'm gonna get my hand some SSRIs or something similar and mess with my brain chemistry a bit (Not getting themon rescription tho, doing it meself). There are some chemicals that turn off nicotinic receptors, ell stop them taking up nicotene (tho not ach and other neurotransmitters.)

Well truth be told I'm still sussing out the drugs and how they work. If I'm satisfied they won't totally fuck me up then I'm doing it.

If not I might have to go back to willpower. (not into patches or gum.)
