I should have known about the frogs. (The sunday school makes me smile.)

The frogs here are tiny, not the kind you eat, but back home, yeah. I still wouldn't eat it unless it was as you describe. (fresh, etc.) With lots of garlic and parsley, a key to pretty food. One of my fierce avocations is food in general and growing and cooking it. I like to know the sources. I have a beloved relative far away who is a great hunter, I believe because he has respect for and knowledge of the animals. He kills several deer each year, some with a bow, and gives his excess to people who don't have any. I used to get some, sigh.
I have a better understanding of the Frog Ritual after doing some reading.

The image is titled, Agneta and the Sea King, by John Bauer, apparently a Swedish folk tale. Now you shall be my queen and stay with me forever, reads the subtitle. Here's a link http://www.florisbooks.co.uk/books/9780863154577 for a book I may have to purchase.

Z, I don't know anything for sure, but did you see in another thread the recommended book, The Holographic Universe? I have to get that one, too. Wanted to tell you that I got a kitty from the humane society and if he stays, he needs a better name than Jesse. I was thinking Jeoffrey after the poem I posted for you. Any ideas are welcome as I like your kitty's name.

Oh yeah, I'll take some Valium, thanks sweetie!

(i do not remember where you live, dear)

(you said you once lived across lake erie from me, which is ohio, pennsylvania, new york, and canada)

(i've lived in all those places except canada, and i sometimes stay there for weeks at a time. windsor may as well be in Michigan its so easy to get there: canadian customs = hi, welcome to canada!)

(hemlock is dangerous, also tasty)

[there is a place called Hemlock also, in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York (hemlock township NY, which is part of the town of Livonia which is the same name as the suburb of Detroit from where i am writing this), and Ontario, probably among others, but i digress]

garlic is a good idea for the Frogs. Parsley on the other hand isn't really food somuchas decoration.

i get meat from (among others) my cousin mentioned above most every year. i got some weird antelope meat from his honeymoon in africa which i haven't eaten yet. also dear, buffalo and bear in the freezer. i'll eat just about anything.

i've killed animals for food, but only rarely as i do not derive any pleasure from the killing itself nor thrills from "hunting" them. most animals are stupid and killing them with guns is easy.

i fish when there is appropriate water nearby. Walleye are awesome. this is the place to live if you like them. i can find them within a mile of where i sit. also can be spear hunted by flashlight. (hence the name walleye)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapetum_lucidum

...

talbot's book is as good a book on the metaphysical speculations related to holographic theory, but probably not the best place to get a basic understanding of the physical theory itself. wiki is better for that.

all in all i liked the book, and he had come to some of the same tentative conclusions about how "woo" things work as i had, but from an entirely different direction. worth your time, at least.

as far as accessible books for the hard physics themselves go...i'll think on it. string theory and its correlates are often written about for general audiences, but most of those books either don't understand it or cannot communicate it properly. (i had it personally explained to me by someone who can do the maths, which was useful)

---QED
the Feynman lectures are as good as you can get, really.
i have the equivalent of this book, the same material but probably presented slightly differently.

thanks for the info re: the picture.

not much for valium meself. have my own vices.

Maybe after the apocalypse they'll realize we're on the same side, and they'll let me teach sunday school again.

You will know where I live when you undertake to send me walleye, or other sweet things. Ha.
When I go back home in the spring or summer, I'm definitely going fishing.

Beside delicious food, I'm going to grow some strange items this year just for fun, maybe hemlock will be among them. Is it really tasty? Henbane is interesting too.

Parsley is not just decorative, it's really good food. I have three of them in the garden. It must be flatleaf, though, none of that curly shit. It's got lots of vitamin C and it seems I read somewhere, protein. I have made parsley pesto that was delicious.

Your sunday school would be entertaining.

That's wonderful. Painful as it may be not to "consummate", falling in love is a good thing. It's the goofy things we do to get the objects of our desires, and the aftermath, that cause trouble. My advice (not that you need it) is enjoy the fall totally and don't seek for more (unless, of course, you must).
You are too funny and I send you a hug.

The More Loving One
by W. H. Auden

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.

How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.

Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn,
I cannot, now I see them, say
I missed one terribly all day.

Were all stars to disappear or die,
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total dark sublime,
Though this might take me a little time.

so all one has to do to get your numbers is send dead animals to your doorstep?
how delightfully old fashioned. by which i mean paleolithic.

i was just letting you know that when you say "around here" i have no idea what that means.

i won't argue the parsley, but to me it'll only ever be something you add to food, not food in and of itself.
(and food that doesn't include dead animals is only a snack)

Hemlock is tasty in an addictive sort of way, like Salvia, or indeed like Henbane. State poison of choice for Graeco-Romantic contemporaries. They say Socrates went that way. I wouldn't recommend it. If witchy trances and vague dissociative states are your cup of tea, it does work, but the bang for the buck (risk of death to highness ration) isn't so much in your favor with the Henbane and Hemlock. I'd stick with the Divine Sage or skip the middle men and go straight to the thujones of the wizardly wormwood.

thee foliated faerie is your friend.

none of them are particularly nutritious.

and no, not tasty in a "great with lamb or pasta" kind of way.

(tramadol doesn't excite me, but i'll listen to the link when i get time and a properly functioning machine, soon)

i was a good sunday school teacher. god chose me. hah.

children have always liked me, for some reason. i have theories.

though i got to teach adults too. they're much less intelligent than children and harder to convince of anything obvious.

...

hope things are well.

i do not know about finding the lectures online. i have never tried. all of my versions are texts only. some better than others. i will have to dig around for them to remember the appropriate details.

Cool things as always all of you! I am such a nerd OE-when I first looked at new images I thought it was a Bonsai tree at first -duhhhh :)
by fuckface I meant 43-best to all of you-hope to be around later unless 404 probs interfere-hope all of you are doing great (it would appear to be so in a certain way anyway :D ) Yeah -I am taking this one to the max Perelandra-for the first (actually second-but i was young) time in my life I am thinking of ways i can have flowers n stuff delivered-and not all of the ways I am thinking of are on the up and up if you know what i mean! If I were 25 yrs younger or so would consider turning a trick or two -did it before-i think I am rather long in the tooth for that now!
