and that's not entirely true. really, i've been on vacation since friday at noon, but it didn't officially start until yesterday when i started getting paid not to show up. which reminds me a lot of high school.
i don't have to go back to work until after memorial day, or maybe i'll get another day off if i consent to joining my manager/scheduler's MTG friday night squad. i'd have to get my cards in order.
the nice thing about having a fellow ultragreek as one of my bosses is being allowed to take half friday and all saturday off, not because they linked my vacation, which was just bonus, but because that way i could go to Motor City Comic Con.
which btw, was a million times more crowded than i've ever seen it. we got there an hour before they openened to advance ticket holders and we waited two hours just to get inside. the line went all the way back to a part of the parking lot i'd never known existed. that was awful. but it was worth it.
although meeting Stan [CIA DISNEY] Lee requires connections with Demons in Higher Places than OP ED has access to and/or can afford to contact.it was worth it mostly because i got to go with a true professional.
OP ED's wife is fluent in Huttese. She's been to more conventions that i have. she attacks their schedule with a map and a plan and gets everything done with lots of time to browse. i have a picture of her with Walter Koenig, which has been a fantasy of mine since i first met her, although in my head there was significantly less clothing involved.
got my Chernobog print from Fantasia signed. met a bunch of cool people. the wife also made it easier by approaching all the supernerds in costume and asking them for their photos. which is awesome because about half of them were babes.
