Retired police chief pleads not guilty to indecent exposure [Updated]

A retired Huntington Park police chief charged with indecent exposure pleaded not guilty Monday in an Orange County courtroom.

Anaheim Police said Paul Lawrence Wadley, 56, had left sexually explicit photos in Anaheim parks and allegedly flashed a woman. He turned himself in Monday and was released on $15,000 bond in connection with the alleged misdemeanor.

Video: Cop shoots deaf knife-holding woodcarver

SEATTLE — Police have released dash-cam video of an incident in which a police officer shot a partially deaf woodcarver who was holding a knife.

“Hey, put the knife down,” the officer says three times. When the man, 50-year-old John T. Williams, does not drop the knife, police officer Ian D. Dirk’ fires five rounds, killing him.

Cook County prosecutors said Deputy Chief Brian Black, a 14-year veteran of the west suburban police force, was charged with filing a false police report and obstructing justice, both felonies. Robert Welch, assigned to the department's gang-suppression unit, was charged with felony theft and official misconduct. Welch is also facing federal charges in connection with the thefts and is on paid leave from the department.
