FBI: Four militia members plotted to attack buildings, release poison
'I'd say the first ones that need to die is the ones in the government buildings'

By Pete Williams Justice correspondent
NBC News

WASHINGTON — Four Georgia men in their 60s and 70s were arrested Tuesday, accused of being members of a right-wing militia group that plotted to attack federal office buildings and to disperse a deadly biological poison in Atlanta.

Their alleged plot was revealed to the FBI by a confidential informant last spring, and members of the group have been meeting since May with someone they thought was a black-market weapons dealer but who turned out to be an undercover federal agent, according to court documents.

No attacks were ever attempted. Federal officials say the men were disrupted before they could act on the plot.

The documents say the men, Frederick Thomas, 73, of Cleveland, Ga.; Dan Roberts, 67, Ray Adams, 65, and Samuel Crump, 68, all of Toccoa, called themselves "the covert group" and began in March to talk about staging attacks against federal targets including the IRS.

Sexual Affairs Goes Wrong for FBI Agent

MANHATTAN (CN) - A hidden sexual relationship with a confidential informant to whom he gave confidential FBI reports has an FBI agent facing years in federal prison. A federal jury on Tuesday convicted Adrian Busby of four counts of making false statements in the tangled affair.
Busby, 37, faces up to 5 years in prison for each count at his March 8, 2010 sentencing.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Busby's troubles began in early 2008, when he signed up as a confidential source a woman who was being prosecuted for identity theft. Busby, who worked in the FBI's New York office, told the agency that she was not the subject of any investigation, but "in truth, mere days before making this representation on the form, Busby had called both the lead NYPD detective and the Queens Assistant D.A. investigating the identity theft case to try to convince them to halt their investigation of the Confidential Source," prosecutors said in a statement.
The woman was indicted on felony charges anyway, and Busby began a sexual affair with her, prosecutors said. Their statement continues: "As she began preparing for her trial, Busby assisted with her defense, in violation of FBI rules. For example, Busby supplied the Confidential Source and her defense attorney with copies of
confidential FBI and Internal Revenue Service reports of interviews he and other agents had conducted as part of a separate federal mortgage fraud investigation. He also supplied the Confidential Source and her attorney with secret information gathered pursuant to federal grand jury subpoenas. In addition, he unsuccessfully lobbied his supervisor and an Assistant U.S. Attorney in another office for permission to testify on the Confidential Source's behalf at her trial. He also repeatedly asked the Assistant U.S. Attorney to ask the Queens Assistant D.A. to dismiss the case against her. After the Confidential Source was convicted at trial, Busby called up the main witness who had testified against her, and insisted that the witness submit to an interview with him at his FBI offices."

NCIS Review: Can Diane Be All Bad?
November 2nd, 2011 6:23 AM by Steve Marsi
http://www.tvfanatic.com/2011/11/ncis-r ... -triangle/

After a number of installments centered around the NCIS team members, last night we were treated to an episode based entirely around the man himself, Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Or Leroy, as some might call him.

Maybe that's just what the show needed, a Gibbs episode to right the ship. I've enjoyed this season for the most part, but Mark Harmon truly anchored this week, reminding us why he's TV's #1 leading man.

Watching him navigate the dysfunctional family reunion of sorts that the case - with FBI Agent Fornell (Joe Spano) and their mutual ex Diane (Melinda McGraw) along for the ride - was funny, tense and real.

Legendary adventure game designer Jane Jensen has joined forces with the team behind the King’s Quest revival to produce an all new game – Cognition.

Cognition is a joint effort from Phoenix Online Studios, responsible for King’s Quest: The Silver Lining, and Dutch developer Khaeon Gamestudio.

The episodic crime thriller tells the story of psychic FBI agent Erica Reed, and was conceptualised by comics artist Romano Molenaar, of Witchblade and X-Men fame. Gabriel Knight and Gray Matter designer Jensen is on board as story consultant.

The team needs to raise $25,000 to cover costs of building the game, and has opened a Kickstarter to support initial development. A number of sweet offers, including appearing in-game, are available to contributors.

Interesting Ancestors of Emily & Zooey Deschanel

By Kimberly Powell, About.com Guide November 1, 2011

http://genealogy.about.com/b/2011/11/01 ... chanel.htm

One of my favorite "fun" television shows premieres for the season on FOX this week -- "Bones" starring Emily Deschanel as Dr. Temperance Brennan and David Boreanaz as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, based on the Kathy Reich's novels that I also enjoy. I love Emily Deschanel's acting, and I can't resist digging into French ancestry when presented with the opportunity, so here goes...

The Deschanel surname, as it sounds, is French. Emily and Zooey's grandfather, Paul Jules Deschanel, was born in Oullins, Rhône, France on 5 November 1906 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1930. Paul's parents, Joseph Marcelin Eugène Deschanel and Marie Josephine Favre, married in Vienne, Isère, Rhône-Alpes, France on 20 April 1901. They both remained in France, although Marie did make several trips to the U.S. to visit her children. The two died in Lyon in 1947 and 1950, respectively. From there the Deschanel line stretches back through several generations of weavers from Planzolles, a tiny commune in the department of Ardèche, France.

Report: FBI Docs Show Friendship Between Harvey, Hoover

January 25, 2010: Paul Harvey and FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover had a 20-year friendship that began with a broadcast stunt gone wrong and lasted until Hoover's death in 1972, the Washington Post reports, citing FBI documents received following the paper's Freedom of Information Act request.

Says the paper, "Previously confidential files show that Harvey, who died last February at 90, enjoyed a 20-year friendship with FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, often submitting advance copies of his radio scripts for comment and approval. Harvey wrote Hoover and his deputies regularly. Hoover, in turn, helped Harvey with research, suggested changes in scripts and showered the broadcaster with effusive praise. "

The Post says the two met in 1952, "on opposite sides of an espionage investigation," after Harvey attempted in 1951 to show lax security at the Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois, climbing a fence to get into the facility. He was intercepted by lab security, and a federal grand jury ultimately declined to indict Harvey for espionage. The Post says, "Nothing in Harvey's file suggests Hoover did anything to help. But Harvey appears to have been grateful for something." Harvey and Hoover met in 1952 after Rep. Fred Busbey (R-IL) asked if he could bring Harvey in to thank Hoover.

Can employers mandate Covid vaccinations?

The 2 Covid vaccines currently available in the US are experimental unlicensed products. As such, they cannot be mandated.  The Nuremberg Code and subsequent laws guarantee your right to choose whether to be an experimental subject.  Although it may advantage some entities to have you think otherwise, an experimental product is an experimental product. These vaccines have not been approved by the FDA, they are unlicensed, and so they are experimental. And therefore you cannot be forced to be injected with an experimental product.
The vaccines were "authorized" under emergency laws that require limited data.  The Johnson and Johnson vaccine will be coming up for a similar authorization, not a license, this coming week.  Once authorized, it too will be an experimental

Reporters’ Alert: Launching a New Website Part II

Reporters at major newspapers and magazines are hard to reach by telephone. Today it is increasingly hard to converse with them about timely scoops, leads, gaps in coverage, and corrections to published articles.
We just started an online webpage: Reporter’s Alert. From time to time, we will use Reporter’s Alert to present suggestions for important reporting on topics that are either not covered or not covered thoroughly. Reporting that just nibbles on the periphery won’t attract much public attention or be noticed by decision-makers. Here is the second installment of suggestions:

It should be apparent that FDA was aware by October 22, 2020 of many of the side effects of Covid vaccines that the public only learned about later.  It should also be apparent that FDA (and CDC has access to even more methods for surveillance) has many databases to learn about vaccine safety--whose data are being hidden from the public.  The EUA statute requires that known benefits and risks be provided to potential vaccine recipients.  That is not happening.

The first slide below, "Slide 17" at the URL above, would suggest that FDA was well aware, presumably from the clinical trials, of all the severe adverse events that have subsequently been publicized.  But if FDA knew about these 9 months ago, it has been slow to tell the public.  For instance, we only just learned about Guillain Barre syndrome last week being a known adverse effect.

In 2003 McClellan published Blood Money and Power: How L.B.J. Killed J.F.K. In the book McClellan argues that Lyndon B. Johnson and Edward Clark were involved in the planning and cover-up of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. McClellan also named Malcolm Wallace as one of the assassins. The killing of Kennedy was paid for by oil millionaires such as Clint Murchison and Haroldson L. Hunt. McClellan claims that Clark got $2 million for this work.

Favorable views of FBI have fallen sharply among Republicans

A new survey of public attitudes toward federal agencies finds that partisan differences in views of the FBI have increased markedly over the past year. This story is part of our series revisiting the JFK assassination. To understand why we’re doing this, read our introduction.
It’s been 30 years since Oliver Stone’s JFK posited that a US government conspiracy, involving both the intelligence services as well as the military industrial complex, was responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.

It's a powerful vaccine!

Stolen from a well educated friend: who is also a healthcare professional:
"Among all the vaccines I have known in my life (diphtheria, tetanus, measles, rubella, chickenpox, hepatitis, meningitis and tuberculosis), I want to also add flu and pneumonia. I have never seen a vaccine that forced me to wear a mask and maintain my social distance, even when you are fully vaccinated. I had never heard of a vaccine that spreads the virus even after vaccination.
I had never heard of rewards, discounts, incentives to get vaccinated. I never saw discrimination for those who didn't. If you haven't been vaccinated no one has tried to make you feel like a bad person. I have never seen a vaccine that threatens the relationship between family, colleagues and friends. I have never seen a vaccine used to threaten livelihoods, work or school.

I have never seen a vaccine that would allow a 12-year-old to override parental consent.
After all the vaccines I listed above, I have never seen a vaccine like this one, which discriminates, divides and judges society as it is.  And as the social fabric tightens… It's a powerful vaccine!  She does all these things except IMMUNIZATION. If we still need a booster dose after we are fully vaccinated, and we still need to get a negative test after we are fully vaccinated, and we still need to wear a mask after we are fully vaccinated, and still be hospitalized after we have been fully vaccinated, it will likely come to “It's time for us to admit that we've been completely deceived."

Words From The Front: Spanish Police Declare Resistance To Covid Tyranny and Corruption-- State That They Are United With Police Forces Across Europe / Celia Farber's substack

"We promised to protect and serve the people...We're going to stop this!
https://celiafarber.substack.com/p/word ... ish-police
See the clip from Valencia, Spain here:
Translated with the help of sources in Spain who wished to remain anonymous:

”We promised to protect and serve the people not the corrupt politicians. We feel very proud to be police but real police, not hit men of the government. Our association is in direct contact with members of security forces in Italy, Portugal, France, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, and Holland. We’re going to join together all of the police of Europe. We’re going to stop this. The security forces and the armed forces are the key to all of this. We have to put ourselves on the side of the people, and turn our backs on the corrupt governments! We have denounced the Covid passport here in Valencia with our association. We’re going to demand responsibility from Señor Marlasca for the two states of emergency, and for using the police and the guardia civil to coerce the citizens. We don’t support that.”
This seems to be a critical development, and one we will keep close tabs on.
Thanks to Pélerine for this news tip.
Incidentally, Pélerine was selected as an outstanding reviewer of Robert F. Kennedy’s The Real Anthony Fauci by The Defender, linked here.
Congratulations Pélerine!

And congratulations to all the good police men and women of Europe, keeping your oath to protect, and risking your lives and livelihoods to do so. We salute your courage, and keep you in prayer.

Election Wire-tap Alleged
Cincinnati Bell Denies Charges

The following paragraphs are excerpts from an article in the Cincinnati Post right before the November, 1987 Cincinnati Council Election. - Jim Condit Jr.
by Randy Ludlow
Post staff reporter
Cincinnati Bell security supervisors ordered wire taps installed on county computers before elections in the late 1970s and early 1980s that could have allowed vote totals to be altered, a former Bell employee says in a sworn court documents
Leonard Gates, a 23-year Cincinnati Bell employee until he was fired in 1986, claims in a deposition filed Thursday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court to have installed the wire taps.
Cincinnati Bell officials denied Gates' allegations tha are part of a six-year-old civil suit that contends the elections computer is subject to manipulation and fraud.
Gates claims a security supervisor for the telephone company told him in 1979 that the firm had obtained a computer program through the FBI that gave it access to the county computer used to count votes.
The deposition does not say if vote totals ever were changed. Gates claimed to have installed wire taps on county computers befoore the elections in 1977 through 1981 and believes, but wasn't certain, in 1982 and 1983.

Race and the Jury
Illegal Discrimination in Jury

Dr. Kenneth O'Reilly returns to The Context of White Supremacy Radio Program. An emeritus professor of history at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Dr. O'Reilly specializes in U.S. politics, presidential history, and "race relations." We've spoken with Dr. O'Reilly twice before about his books: Nixon's Piano: Presidents and Racial Politics from Washington to Clinton; and Racial Matters: The FBI's Secret File on Black America, 1960 to 1972. In 2009, The C.O.W.S. had only returned to the air for 2 months when Dr. O'Reilly first spoke with us about COINTELPRO - the FBI's clandestine surveillance program to neutralize non-white people who attempted to counter-racism. The impetus to speak with Dr. O'Reilly at this moment was last week's conversation with Florida State University's Fannie Lou Hamer Professor of Rhetorical Studies, Dr. Davis W. Houck. This White Man wrote a history book on Mississippi's 1964 Freedom Summer campaign and completely omitted COINTELPRO. J. Edgar Hoover, Stokley Carmichael, Ella Baker, John Lewis, and Bob Moses are just a few of the main characters in the book. Except FBI director Hoover, all of these people were COINTELPRO victims. To the contrary, Dr. O'Reilly's book contains an entire chapter on Hoover and the Justice Department's nefarious behavior during Freedom Summer. We'll discuss the significance of this predictable negligence by White experts like Dr. Houck and why this should be understood as a deliberate act of White Supremacy. We'll also get Dr. O'Reilly's thoughts on the recent Netflix film, Judas and the Black Messiah - which dramatizes the COINTELPRO assassinations of Chicago Black Panthers Fred Hampton and Mark Clark, as well as the recent acknowledgement that two black males, Muhammad A. Aziz and Khalil Islam, were wrongly convicted and jailed for decades for the murder of Minister Malcolm X. #DomesticWhiteTerrorism

Copaganda, a portmanteau of cop and propaganda, is a phenomenon described by critics of law enforcement in which news media and other social institutions promote celebratory portrayals of police officers with the intent of swaying public opinion for the benefit of police departments and law enforcement.[1]
Copaganda has been described as promoting an image of police officers that does not reflect reality, especially for working class Indigenous, Black, and Brown communities, and reinforcing racist misconceptions worldwide.[2][3][4][5][6] The term is commonly used on social media platforms such as Twitter.[1]

Queer Hoover: Sex, Lies, and Political History
Wesleyan University
WHAT DOES THE HISTORY OF SEX look like without evidence of sexual identities or proof that sex acts occurred? And how might an analysis of gossip, rumors, and perhaps even lies about sex help us to write politi cal history? Answers to these questions might begin with a story about J.
Edgar Hoover told by society divorcee Susan Rosenstiel, a story that was bought and paid for by tabloid journalist Anthony Summers three decades after it allegedly occurred.
In 1958 the bisexual millionaire distiller and philanthropist Lewis Solon
Rosenstiel asked Susan, his fourth wife, if--having been previously married to another bisexual man for nine vears- she had ever seen "a homosexual orgy." Although she had once surprised her sixty-eight-year-old husband in bed with his attorney, Roy Cohn, Susan told Summers that she had never before been invited to view sex between men. With her consent the couple went one day not long after this odd question to Manhattan's Plaza Hotel.
Cohn, a former aide to Senator Joseph McCarthy and a Republican power broker, met them at the door. As she and her husband entered the suite, Susan said, she recognized a third man: J. Edgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), whom she had met previously at her New York City Upper East Side townhouse. Hoover, Lewis had explained, gave him access to influential politicians; he returned these favors, in part, by paying the director's gambling debts
I would like to thank Henry Abelove, Jonathan Katz, Andrea Jagose, Matt Kuefler, and the anonymous readers of the Jowrnal of the History of Sexuality for their comments; Martha M. Umphrey for sharing with me her work on Harry Thaw; and Nancy Barnes for encouragement, discussion, and a thoughtful line edit. This piece was first presented as a conference paper at "The Queer 1950s and 60s," Center for the Humanities, Wesleyan University, 26 April
2003. It is dedicated to the memory of Jack Anderson, investigative journalist and master of political gossip, 1922-2005.

The F.B.I.: A Special Report by David Burnham
The Nation. August 11, 1997
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is the most powerful and secretive agency in the United States today. Despite the bureau's influence over a broad terrain of American life, independent examinations of the "B," as special agents refer to it, have been rare. (In the sixties The Nation published a special issue on the bureau by Fred Cook, which became The FBI Nobody Knows.) No Congressional committee has mustered the political will and staff to carry out a comprehensive review. With the bureau's political power greater than at any time in its eighty-nine-year history, an examination of the questions of how well it is performing its crime-fighting mission and safeguarding civil liberties is overdue. Beyond the recent series of F.B.I. problems—the tragedy at Waco, the shootout at Ruby Ridge, the Atlanta Olympic Park bombing, the flawed investigations by its scientific lab—are there broader kinds of defects that demand attention? We asked David Burnham, a reporter who has specialized in law-enforcement issues for thirty years, to review the current state of the F.B.I. With research support from The Nation Institute's Investigative Fund, Burnham availed himself of an entirely new kind of information—internal administrative data maintained by the Justice Department, which tracks every instance an investigative agency like the F.B.I. refers a matter for prosecution and the ultimate disposition of these referrals. Data tapes containing this detailed information, from the mid-seventies to fiscal year 1996, were obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), a research organization formed in 1989 by Burnham and Susan Long, a professor at Syracuse University. They then verified and analyzed the data. The F.B.I. did not respond to our request for comment on the findings of this article. The Editors

You may recall that, back during the last net neutrality open comment period, the FCC’s comment system was overrun by millions of faked comments, including from many dead people. Not surprisingly, it was eventually determined that legacy broadband companies funded the fake comment submissions, which they felt they needed to do because actual activists were actually effective in getting the public to

Open Access Makes Research More Widely Cited, Helping Spread Knowledge
from the share-the-knowledge dept
Thu, Jun 15th 2023 08:05pm - Glyn Moody
Open access has been discussed many times here on Techdirt. There are several strands to its story. It’s about allowing the public to access research they have paid for through tax-funded grants, without needing to take out often expensive subscriptions to academic titles.
