Rigorous Intuition Discussion Board Archive

Post by Joao »

An archive of this discussion board has been created and posted to the Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/RigorousInt ... ve20161123

After downloading a copy, the archive is accessed as normal through one's web browser. It's a 1.1GB zip file which unpacks to 3.79GB, and is complete (as was publicly available) through November 23, 2016.

A few notes:
  • There are over 82,000 pages and 36,000 topics
  • Archive was created with Microsys A1 Website Download 7.7.0
  • External files (images, videos, etc.) are hotlinked and viewable as normal (if the link is valid) but are not included in the archive
  • EZCode formatting in older posts has been restored--see example below
I'm pleased to be able to provide this but will not act as its steward. Further efforts such as updates, modifications, or analyses are left to interested parties.

Here's an example of an old post with EZCode formatting--there are over 10,000 pages like this currently on the site:

And here's the corrected version as it appears in this archive:

Wow, great work, Joao!

Restored EZCode functionality will make reading from the archive preferable, in many cases, to doing so from the live site.

Many thanks!!

INTERNET ARCHIVE SUCCESSFULLY FENDS OFF SECRET FBI ORDER
Kim Zetter
December 1 2016, 2:01 p.m.
A DECADE AGO, the FBI sent Brewster Kahle, founder of the Internet Archive, a now-infamous type of subpoena known as a National Security Letter, demanding the name, address and activity record of a registered Internet Archive user. The letter came with an everlasting gag order, barring Kahle from discussing the order with anyone but his attorney — not even his wife could know.

Excellent!

These results were amazing. Downloaded and I think I thanked somewhere, but let me thank here again! Thanks!

Two years later, seems like the right time to do this again.

If Joao's not around or doesn't have time for it... what are the instructions?

What software was used?

And what was the second process, to fix the formatting?

Thanks again!

here's her pm to me when we talked about last March
Joao wrote:Hi SLaD

This is the software I used to create the archive:

https://www.microsystools.com/products/ ... -download/

The free version is fully functional for 30 days. I recall it was fairly straightforward to use, although it's been a while of course and I may be forgetting details.

Try giving it a go and see what you can do. I'm not an expert or a coder but I'll try to answer questions if you have any. I don't visit this forum that often these days, so be patient with me. I'd suggest creating a thread if you run into issues or just want community input.

Also, as far as I'm aware, you'll have to create an entirely new archive which completely replaces the previous. I don't think creating a supplement to the original archive is realistically possible (although hey, I could be wrong).

Cheers,
J

Okay, so apparently the EZcode problem is solved already by the software, or possibly by choosing EZcode conversion as an option.

Here's a question:
External files (images, videos, etc.) are hotlinked and viewable as normal (if the link is valid) but are not included in the archive
Does it afford the option of archiving these files? By filetype so we get the images stored in the archive, at least? (Video would be a bad idea!)
