Medway man who made his mark as an Allagash ranger dies of coronavirus

On Sunday, May 31, DiCentes and other family members gathered outside the hospital room, looking through the window. He wasn’t alone, DiCentes said. He was cared for by a nurse who had taken a shine to him, and even though she wasn’t scheduled to work that day, she came in anyway.
The Rogue Ranger, the fisherman, canoe-paddler, moose hunter, Maine Guide, tough talker with a big heart, had reached the end of his journey. That’s when DiCentes saw something that seemed symbolic, and right.

“An eagle flew down,” she said. “And I thought, how fitting.”

Making the case against LWOP, the bigger and badder death penalty
This new NBC News commentary by Peter Irons makes the case for paying more attention to, and getting rid of, LWOP sentences.  The piece's full headline highlights its themes: "A prison sentence of life without parole isn't called the death penalty.  But it should be.  Before we cheer the huge drop in capital punishment cases, we need to revisit and replace the extended death penalty — life without parole."  I recommend the full piece, and here are excerpts:

Virtual AE911Truth conference and QAnon on the agenda for Wednesday’s teleconference

Greetings all,

You won’t want to miss our July teleconference. Our first speaker is Richard Gage, a frequent participant in our calls who I don’t need to tell you is the CEO and founder of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Richard will give us the scoop on an AE911Truth event that has not yet been announced anywhere else. This 9/11 anniversary event is a virtual conference that will feature some of the most recognizable names in the 9/11 Truth Movement. Join us to find out more.

Our second speaker will be seen by some as controversial because of his support for the “QAnon” group. Mike King has written a book on the subject, called QAnon – The Storm: A 120 Year Timeline. King is an investigative journalist and researcher based in the New York City area. A 1987 graduate of Rutgers University, King's subsequent 30-year career in marketing and advertising have contributed to his understanding how public opinion is scientifically manufactured. His website is RealHistoryChannel.org.’

If time permits, we’ll then open up the floor for a general discussion of important topics (which are bound to include the Covid-19 situation).

So don’t miss it!

Cheryl Curtiss
Craig McKee

Pediatric deaths: Covid (American Academy of Pediatrics data) and Influenza (CDC data and estimates, 2018-19)

According to the AAP, 186 American children have died from Covid-19 through July 30, 2020.

According to the CDC in its latest year reporting on flu deaths,
"During the 2018–2019 season, 136 deaths in children with laboratory–confirmed influenza virus infection were reported in the United States. However, influenza-associated pediatric deaths are likely under-reported as not all children whose death was related to an influenza virus infection may have been tested for influenza. By combining data on hospitalization rates, influenza testing practices, and the frequency of death in and out of the hospital from death certificates, we estimate that there were approximately 480  deaths associated with influenza in children during 2018–2019."

Greetings all,

We have a very interesting call for you this month. We’ll start with Richard Gage and Ted Walter from Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth who will tell us about the organization’s effort to help a family in the UK that is trying to get the inquest into their son’s death reopened. Geoff Campbell was killed in the North Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11, and his brother, Matt, has been fighting for years to get the inquest reopened, which would mean getting evidence for controlled demolition of the towers into a courtroom.

Our second speaker will be James Lee, who will present on the fires in California. James resides near the Mendocino Coast of Northern California and grows biodynamic and organic food at his 100-year-old farm. He graduated from the school of business at San Diego State University as well as attending the Green MBA program at New College in Santa Rosa, California. He has had more than 25 years experience working on Wall Street, and in 1991, he founded a small investment/research boutique, JWL Investments.

And our final speaker will be Dr. Beverly Rubik who will talk to us about Covid-19 and 5G.
She earned her PhD in biophysics in 1979 from the University of California at Berkeley. After a long career in research and education, she now works a practitioner and health educator who provides laboratory and clinical assessments. Beverly is also conducting research at the Health Medicine Center in Walnut Creek, CA.

So please join us for what should be three excellent presentations.

A better question might be, when will the armed conflict stop?

Throw down your arms and come.

FBI,Police, Phone Company Implicated : Alleged Wiretap Scheme Investigated in Cincinnati
By ERIC HARRISON
JAN. 14, 1989
TIMES STAFF WRITER

http://www.votefraud.org/Archive/Write/wiretap.htm

FROM THE votefraud.org ARCHIVES

Gates contends both West and Peter Gabor, security director, told him to install wire taps in subsequent elections. Both men declined comment Thursday.
In 1979 - the election which is the focus of the deposition - Gates said he received instructions in the mail from West about installing wire taps on county computers in the County Administration Building at Court and Main streets.
The wire taps were installed on the eve of the election at Cincinnati Bell's switching control center at Seventh and Elm Streets and terminated in a conference room in the building, Gates alleges.
In the deposition, Gates described in great technical detail installation of the wire taps.
About 8:30 p.m. on election day - Nov. 6, 1979 - Gates said he was called by West and told something had gone wrong causing the elections computer to malfunction. At West's instructions, Gates said he removed the taps.
The elections computer shut down for two hours on election evening due to what was believed to be a power failure, Condit Sr. has said.
Gates said West told him they "had the ability to actually alter what was being done with the votes."
Gates said West told him the Board of Elections did not know about the taps and that the computer program for the eletions computer "was obtained out of California, and that the programming had been obtained through the FBI ... "
Shortly after the 1979 election, Gates said he met with the late Richad Dugan, former Cincinnati Bell president, to express his concerns that the wire taps were done without a court order.
"Mr. Dugan said it was a very gray area . . . This was just small compared to what was going on. He told me just, if I had a problem, to talk to him and everything would be okay, but everything was under control," Gates said.

Fauci's guy prepares us for the bad news that masks and social distancing don't work against mutated virus

The NY POST got some fascinating quotes from the Senior Scientific Advisor in Tony Fauci's office, David Morens.  Morens recently coauthored an article with Fauci (which I discussed here) in which the two of them instructed us that we need to learn to live more harmoniously with nature, or "we will increasingly provoke new disease emergences.  Yup, Fauci and Morens are telling us the pandemic is our own fault.  Here's the full quote:
"The COVID-19 pandemic is yet another reminder, added to the rapidly growing archive of historical reminders, that in a human-dominated world, in which our human activities represent aggressive, damaging, and unbalanced interactions with nature, we will increasingly provoke new disease emergences. We remain at risk for the foreseeable future. COVID-19 is among the most vivid wake-up calls in over a century. It should force us to begin to think in earnest and collectively about living in more thoughtful and creative harmony with nature, even as we plan for nature’s inevitable, and always unexpected, surprises."
Are they hinting that a reduced human population will be less susceptible to pandemics? Or that rural populations need to move?  Is the Great Reset going to control our "interactions with nature"?

Here are excerpts from the NY Post story, in which Morens again seems to be a harbinger of things to come, preparing us for the failures of masks and social distancing to prevent spread of SARS-CoV-2.  (In my state, the top health official acknowledged a few days ago that most new cases are due to silent community spread, rather than outbreaks.)
"David Morens, a virologist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the findings suggest that the virus may become more contagious and that this “may have implications for our ability to control it.”
He said it’s possible that the virus had evolved to resist efforts such as hand-washing and social distancing.
“Wearing masks, washing our hands, all those things are barriers to transmissibility, or contagion, but as the virus becomes more contagious, it statistically is better at getting around those barriers,” Morens told the newspaper."
These phony public health officials have never admitted they were wrong about anything during this scamdemic.  And now, they have started invoking viral mutations (that cunningly defeat masks and distancing) to gin up the fear and keep the scamdemic going, until the public is on its knees.  And the Great Reset can begin.

Six months after the repeal of 50-a, NY police continue to combat the release of disciplinary records
Written by Beryl Lipton, Jon Campbell
In the Syracuse suburb of Manlius, police transparency carries a hefty price tag.
In June, the Manlius Police Department received an open-records request from MuckRock. The request sought documents detailing any allegations of misconduct against current or former officers and any discipline the department imposed.
The department replied with a bill. For $47,504.
Six months ago, New York lawmakers and Gov. Andrew Cuomo repealed Section 50-a of the state Civil Rights Law, a once-obscure provision that had been used to shield police disciplinary records from public view for decades.
The repeal came amid national and statewide protests following the May 25 death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who died in police custody after an officer pressed a knee into his neck for nearly nine minutes.
Since then, MuckRock has partnered with the USA TODAY Network New York, the Brechner Center for Freedom of Information and Syracuse University journalism students to file more than 600 records requests with more than 400 police agencies in hopes of creating a searchable, first-of-its-kind database with disciplinary records from across the state.
But in much of the state, police agencies have declined to provide the documents without a fight.
The state’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) applies equally to all New York police departments, but only about 40 have actually provided records in response requests for existing disciplinary records, only one-tenth of local law enforcement agencies.
Some departments, such as Manlius and Yonkers, have requested thousands of dollars to sort through and redact the records, seeking labor costs by pointing to a provision in state law allowing them to charge the “actual cost” of reproducing records.
Others have pointed to ongoing lawsuits filed by police unions in New York City, Buffalo, Schenectady and other locations, challenging whether departments can legally release unsubstantiated or pending complaints.
At least 75 departments have claimed to have no disciplinary records at all, with some saying no complaints have been filed and others — including the town of Ogden near Rochester — suggesting they only keep the records for three years before destroying them.
Many departments, like the city of Poughkeepsie, have repeatedly pushed back the date by which they have pledged to provide documents, sometimes for months at a time.
Others say requests for all disciplinary records are too broad and can be denied. And about 80 departments haven’t responded at all, despite numerous inquiries by MuckRock and others.
The various tactics and strategies deployed by police departments make clear: Even though Section 50-a has been repealed, the battle for disciplinary records wages on.
“I am absolutely floored by how inaccessible this is to an ordinary person,” said Tina Chronopoulos, a Binghamton University associate professor and member of grassroots group Citizen Action, who filed at least 20 requests for disciplinary records on her own.
“The learning curve has been really, really steep.”
Disciplinary requests met with delays, denials
For decades, police disciplinary records in New York had been kept private by Section 50-a of the state Civil Rights Law, which was repealed in June.
Under FOIL, state and local agencies have five business days to acknowledge requests for documents. For many requests in the database project, the five-day window came and went without an acknowledgement.
Some departments simply claimed the requests were too broad or burdensome, despite a provision in the FOIL that requires offices to provide direction to requesters on how to improve their requests. Others, when called, claim that they’ve received the requests but that they’d been handed off to city attorneys for response.
A few cities and towns, including Middletown, have claimed that the law doesn’t apply to existing records, only those created after the 50-a repeal.
The state’s Committee on Open Government disagrees.
Just three weeks after the repeal, the committee — a state entity that opines on open-government laws — suggested the new provisions of law would apply to “all law enforcement disciplinary records maintained by a law enforcement agency … regardless of the current employment status of the subject individual.”
It hasn’t prevented cities, towns and villages from trying to use the excuse, like Jamestown, which argued disclosure was not “retroactive.” After that FOIL rejection was appealed and overturned by the mayor, the city claimed fulfilling the request would require more than $20,000 in fees.
In some cases, resistance to responding to requests has been a team effort. Towns, like Maybrook, Deerpark and Goshen in Orange County, have allied in their responses, sending nearly identical rejections to requests from different reporters.
Maybrook and Goshen share a municipal attorney, Rich Golden, who was Orange County attorney from 1994 through 2001 under a previous county executive.
And Southold, a town on the eastern end of Long Island, cited a host of reasons for not releasing police disciplinary records. In its denial letter, it cited litigation, the volume of records involved, an “unwarranted invasion of personal privacy” and a claim that releasing the documents could put people in danger.
Resistance to the requests is not just limited to local police departments, either.
Both the New York State Police and Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, which oversees the state prison system, rejected requests and appeals for the last 10 years of disciplinary records, arguing they were too broad.
The two state agencies, as well as several other local departments across the state, suggested their filing systems didn’t allow them to separate out disciplinary records easily from personnel files.
“A reasonably described request for records should include specific parameters, such as the names of employees to be searched for,” Lt. Col. Scott Wilcox, state police assistant deputy superintendent, wrote in denying a USA TODAY Network appeal. “Whether a request is reasonably described may be dependent upon the nature of an agency’s filing or record keeping system.”
Legal cases remain on appeal
In several instances, police agencies have pointed to ongoing court cases as reason for delay.
In New York City, Buffalo, Schenectady and Tonawanda, police and fire unions or officers have filed lawsuits that attempt to block or delay disclosure of record
