Dyn-O-Mite Guitar
Billy Strange
GNP Crescendo GNPS - 2094
1975

I thought GNP Crescendo had reissued most of their catalog either on new vinyl or by purchase/digital download. I can't find this album online, at the moment, but have to assume GNP still controls the rights. So, sorry, I will not be posting a sample.

The cover looks budget and the song selection made me wonder how great this album could be. I mean, Love Will Keep Us Together... really? Even the back cover kind of smacks of a private press look. But, even with the "disco" touches, this album is really stellar 70s fun. It's a great mix of 70s cheese, light pop, disco and just Billy Strange cool. Inventive arrangements, good all the way through.

Thanks drew, I didn't find the Dyn-O-Mite Guitar album on YouTube. Maybe I'll digitize my LP copy and post it there. (adds to stack of 'things to do')

(I still have about 600 record LPs.)

I always like to hear what Billy Strange did with a tune. There's some interview footage with him in "The Wrecking Crew" documentary (now on DVD I hear).

Studio version of the live juggernaut posted one page back:

Perpetuum Mobile (2004) is a studio masterpiece, especially the title song. The sound balance is perfect, delicate and precise. Every noise has its place. Reviewers talked about an air of menace and alienation, which isn't entirely wrong, but the whole thing is also a weirdly moving experience, and weirdly funny too. (No contradiction there.) I love the way that driving minimal Motorik rhythm keeps expiring and then reasserting itself.

I used to listen to this amazing album at a medium volume in my headphones walking around, catching buses and trains and it was amazing how the sounds of the songs blended beautifully with the sounds of the city. The world seemed a huge work of sonic art!

Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

My favorite Jack Bruce song is "Doing that Scrapyard Thing". I think Cream did their best work on Goodbye, unfortunately.
