You know you probably killed her when you called her a "nice lady." Bastard.

Apparently this is the place for Flamewar by Other Means, and/or Slowdogs Who Wish They Ran At All.

Anyway, questions:

1. What's the case that Hacktivist = Percival, and do I care?

2. Are we allowed to anticipate toasts to the banned and disappeared of the future? 'Cos that could make for a really lively thread, you know?

3. Or should we just do an annual ostracism thread, like in ancient Athens? The mob casts stone ballots (into a box, not at a human target) and whoever gets the most votes is exiled for 10 years! Yay!

(You know I'd be a contender. Thucydides was the winner one year early in the Peloponesian Wars, the knowledge of which makes reading his history of it all the more interesting.)

No, apparently the Percival connection is at present unfounded, though both shared a fondness for the writings of Ted Kaczynski and resorted to the "inside knowledge I can't tell you about" thing.

Point taken, Jack. Let's keep the thread toasty, not flamey.

Don't forget the easily wounded journalist who likes to dis RI bit.

Here's a wee (and somewhat entertaining) lesson in trolling, dig how she roils it up in the comment section:

Since someone will forever be surprising
A hunger in himself to be more serious,
And gravitating with it to this ground,
Which, he once heard, was proper to grow wise in,
If only that so many dead lie round.

I'd delete my account now, at the rate this is going, but than I would (presumably) lose the ability to delete all or any of my posts. I certainly would not want to ask the mods to do so. Oh well, back to lurking!

Actually catbirdsteed, I think the ability to edit posts after a short window of time has been rescinded, in the interests of maintaining continuity of discussion, I believe. So either way you can't delete what you've said.

Still, I hope you don't leave, I have enjoyed your threads and posts. There's nothing wrong with lurking. A toast to all the lurkers!

I'm still alive, in case anyone was wondering.

Computer died in November and I have thus far chosen not to fix it because I am about 1000 percent more productive and have been playing music again after a long break. It's amazing what a person can find time for when the only media appliance in the home is a radio/cd player.
