I remember my first Kindergarden reader had teachers notes in the back and it had my first two words I fell in love with....

Diphthong

Triphthong

I love the word susurrus and the Finnish word for simplicity: yksinkertaisuus :)

On the flip side, because of the absence of who the word that is irritating me. I think it is being overused.

That's what I thought too.

What was the name of that book again?

"Eats shoots and leaves."

I was hoping to pick up some tips, but I'm not talking about grammar.

ps I can't hear the word "gerund" without thinking of Nigel Molesworth;

Rather like the sound of 'gerund' actually. It sounds like an upper class given name.
'Scuffle' is adorable too - meet the twins, Gerund Ambrosia and Scuffle Enteritis

^ OF got me.

..

I mean just look at it!

OF

all by itself it is just so... under-a-rock-like... gutteral... senseless. It's unbalanced looking and sounds awful to boot! And yet, dear little 'of' is used probably more often than the vast majority of (d'oh!) any other word.

And sorry, with Carlin, the modern form of teats. Don't misinterpret now. Unlike, say, ass, it sounds good: Tits. Tits.

(Can't help thinking about it, not for the reason you immediately surmise, but because the title of this thread always displays on my machine as "misspellings in tit.")

The comments to this article are hilarious on several levels. (Disclosure: I am neither a 'BoSox' or Yankees fan.)

Eggcorns galore. Some intentional.

Free agent outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has agreed to a deal with the Yankees. He used to play for the Red Sox. In case you are an alien or a baby born today who just learned how to use a computer, the Red Sox and Yankees are big rivals. Anyway, Boston fans are mad about Ellsbury being a traitor for switching teams. If only they could spell.

Ellsbury you're no longer my favorite player. Fuck you. Trader.

— Adam ©ardona (@ReallyCardona) December 4, 2013
Fuck you Ellsbury, you are a trader and should give your two rings back to the organization that made you

Fuck Jacoby Ellsbury! Trader! I'm on another level of pissed right now! The Red Sox are still goin go back to back tho#RedSoxNation

Nevermind the fact that the word "traitor" has nothing to do with switching baseball teams. It's more of a "attempted to subvert the government" sort of word, by definition.

Patrick Fitzgerald
I believe the word you're missing here is "sarcasm".

ShakeYourTDs
Duh, he was a free agent idiots. He wasn't traded. That makes this whole argument a mute point.
