woot! Almost got kicked off another chat room. :bigsmile Yes, I'm guilty of digging way too deep for a good joke. ... or even a bad one. um.... we were talking about ideal girlfriends, and :eeyaa :shock2: i said.. "only one thing better than a girlfriend who's teeth fold back! A girlfriend with one eye!" :yay

somebody, i assume by his/her moniker, a female, seemed to take umbrage. um... If they will let me back on Monday, i will attempt to apologize, but...

The funny thing is, they give a more accurate and balanced view of events than the BBC are currently capable of, or will ever be capable of.

An unbiased and impartial BBC? Hahahahaha!

Bloody hell, Harry Enfield is turning out to be a bit of a late bloomer, comedy-wise. I always thought his stuff was reasonably funny, but it also seemed to be time-locked. The amusing quality of it always seemed linked to my own age. I mean, his stuff was never revisitable later - even a few years later. Just try re-watching The Slobs or LoadsaMoney or even the early "Kevin" sketches now. They're fucking intolerable.

But the American Tourist Paedos thing, and the Cameron is a "Quair" sketch, feel like real quality goods. I salute him.

He's no Armando, though:

Can't embed this:

Phil Kay Feels Natural

I've seen him live in Edinburgh a couple of times. He's maybe the funniest live performer I've ever seen, and certainly the weirdest. A real joy at his best, but a truly mad bastard at all times, and a danger to himself if not to others. Everything he does is improvised on the spot, and sometimes it shows. Part of the pleasure is watching him lose it completely and wondering how the hell he's going to get it back, if at all, and when, if ever.

Anger as spoof Kazakhstan anthem played at medal ceremony

• Embarrassment at Arab Shooting Championships ceremony
• Spoof Kazakhstan anthem from Borat movie played in error

Associated Press

guardian.co.uk, Saturday 24 March 2012 12.26 GMT

Kazakhstan has called the playing of a spoof of its national anthem at an international sporting event "a scandal" and demanded an investigation of the incident.

Maria Dmitrienko won a gold medal for Kazakhstan on Thursday at the Arab Shooting Championships in Kuwait, but during the award ceremony the public address system broadcast the spoof anthem from the 2006 movie "Borat," which offended many Kazakhs by portraying the country as backward and degenerate.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ilyas Omarov told the ITAR-Tass news agency the incident "is, of course, a scandal and demands a thorough investigation, which we intend to conduct."

ITAR-Tass quoted shooting team member Oksana Stavitskaya as saying that Asian Shooting Federation President Sheikh Salman al-Sabah had apologised to the team.

"Sheikh Salman personally apologised to us. He recognized that the use of the music from the scandalous film in place of the anthem of Kazakhstan was completely a mistake of the organisers. He explained that the awards ceremony was conducted by a firm under contract," Stavitskaya said.

The Kazakh news agency Tengri quoted team Coach Anvar Yunusmetov as saying tournament organizers had downloaded various countries' national anthems from the Internet.
