There are Randian themes here, but kindness is the overall thrust. Freewill!

There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi

...

82_28, my dearest friend, the most excellent digital radio station Planet Rock* just announced that Rush have finished their latest studio recording!

I love so many Rush albums so very much.

Hemispheres has a lot of wisdom in it.

Cygnus X1!

God of Balance?

I don't think there is anything Randian about it;

I have memory and awareness
But I have no shape or form
As a disembodied spirit
I am dead and yet unborn
I have passed into olympus
As was told in tales of old
To the city of immortals
Marble white and purest gold

I see the gods in battle rage on high
Thunderbolts across the sky
I cannot move, I cannot hide
I feel a silent scream begin inside

Then all at once the chaos ceased
A stillness fell, a sudden peace
The warriors felt my silent cry
And stayed their struggle, mystified

Apollo was atonished
Dionysus thought me mad
But they heard my story further
And they wondered, and were sad

Looking down from olympus
On a world of doubt and fear
Its surface splintered
Into sorry hemispheres

They sat a while in silence
Then they turned at last to me
'we will call you cygnus,
The God of balance you shall be'

The sphere: a kind of dream
We can walk our road together
If our goals are all the same
We can run alone and free
If we pursue a different aim

Let the truth of love be lighted
Let the love of truth shine clear
Sensibility
Armed with sense and liberty
With the heart and mind united
In a single perfect sphere

:angelwings:

* I definitely want to give these guys a plug. One of the dj's is a huge Rush fan, and the other dj's are certainly afficionadoes.

ps I really must get round talking some more about synchronicities, or even the tarot deck. If only I had the time!

He was exploring freedom. He was free to explore and he did and took a lot of us along with him and lost two deared members of his family. He was always closer to the heart and a total thinker.

I'm sure he would agree with all of us nowadays of what a clown Rand was/is. At least that's how I idealize his living in the limelight ass as.

Peart is a simple idealist who is crazy talented and heartbreakingly heartfelt. I am glad to have spent time on Earth during his era.

I'm just quotin' ya 82_28 'cos you da man.

I absolutely love Closer to the Heart.

I tell thee solemnly, Rush are true prophets.

Thus are the prophets arisen;

A modest man from Mandrake
Travelled rich to the city
He had a need to discover
A use for his newly found wealth

Because he was human
Because he had goodness
Because he was moral
They called him insane
Delusions of grandeur
Visions of splendor
A manic depressive
He walks in the rain

Eyes wide open
Heart undefended
Innocence untarnished...

Cinderella Man
Doing what you can
They can't understand
What it means
Cinderella Man
Hang on to your plans
Try as they might
They cannot steal your dreams

In the betrayal of his love he awakened
To face a world of cold reality
And a look in the eyes of the hungry
Awakened him to what he could do

He held up his riches
To challenge the hungry
Purposeful motion
For one so insane
They tried to fight him
Just couldn't beat him
This manic depressive
Who walks in the rain

ps We need nice shiney new threads for Yes, Genesis and Jethro Tull too, if you want my opinion. Maybe even the Floyd but I always found them a little depressing. One day I shall write a book "The Exegesis of Progressive Rock." Or perhaps even "The Exegesis of RPG's." I would perform the exegesis on superheroes, but that's already been done. Twice.

I love George St. Pierre! Awesome fighter. . . oops! Wrong 'Rush'.

I've often wondered what they meant by in Tom Sawyer when Geddy sings, "What you say about his company, is what you say about society ..."
Does it have to do with Tom Sawyer in particular? Or is it more metaphorical? Any ideas?
Born we are the same, within the silence, indifference be Thy name
Torn we walk alone, we sleep in silent shades
The grandeur fades, the meaning never known- 'Born' Nevermore

God, I wish I were a Canadian. I was watching the game on Canadian TV tonight and not US coverage (Stanley Cup) and they had a little teaser for this in depth interview with Geddy Lee later on on The National. I was going to leave and do something else, but I stuck around.

All I can say is, Jesus Christ, you guys' TV shit, not to mention music is so far superior to this country's. I mean a fucking news show taking almost a half hour to interview one of the guys I most admire inside and outside of music, but in a smart and heartfelt, respectful, thoughtful, curious way?

I can't say the interview was awesome or anything, but for "Rush Fans" it's quite interesting. Geddy says something about the band's Canadian-ness as to why who they are who they are.

Anyhow, here it is:

http://www.cbc.ca/thenational/blog/2012 ... y-lee.html

Any country that has an institute of a show like The National and spends a half hour of sober conversation with Geddy Lee after game 6 of the Stanley Cup, is my country. . . Alas.

What's the greatest Rush song? For me it's Distant Early Warning.

...

On with the awesomeness indeed!

I like this one.

It makes me cry.

The breakers roar
On an unseen shore
In the teeth of a hurricane
Oh, we struggle in vain

A hellish night
A ghostly light
Appears through the driving rain
Salvation in a human chain

All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary
Of a miracle too good to be true
All I know is that sometimes the truth is contrary
Everything in life you thought you knew
All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary
'Cause sometimes the target is you

Driven to ground
With a helpful sound
Drowned by the cheer from the shore
Oh, we wonder what for

The people swarm
Through the darkening storm
Gather everything they can score
'Til their backs won't bear any more

All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary
Of a miracle too good to be true
All I know is that sometimes the truth is contrary
Everything in life you thought you knew
All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary
Of a miracle too good to be true
All I know is that sometimes the truth is contrary
'Cause sometimes the target is you
