for some reason as a kid i was always drawn to those vector line graphics games like Tempest and Tail Gunner
my son loves playing "Lego BatMan" with his Mom on the PS3.
he gets mad when i want to play "Portal2".
he calls it my "boring Hortle Portle game"

i am looking forward to the release of "BioShock: Infinite" next month

On the other hand, Champions online is free to play.

What about LOTR online?

I like to roleplay.

I only ever played the first Neverwinter Nights, but I have the discs for the second one lying around here somewhere. Just need to finish Baldur's Gate II first. Should only take a couple of years :D

Another great game I recently played: FTL - faster than light. Very addictive - "Just one more try...".

NWN1!

You're not Fuarch, are you, DrEvil?

I knew a chap by that handle who told me he sometimes read these forums.

I am still the Hammer of Los.

The little ranger!

The Sureshot!

Philomena!

The Lucky Longshot!

Ha ha ha!

Don't ego search the living planet!

Ahem.

I wonder if any others who read or post here ever played on the Narfell* Server.

Nah.

That would be too much of a coinkydink.

Right?

*I just mistyped that as Narvell, before going back and correcting it.

I never got around to playing it online, so that's probably not me you're thinking of :)
The only RPG I play online is Eve Online, and that takes up pretty much all my online gaming time (I'm getting into the drug business. It's very exciting.), except for the occasional round of Wipeout HD on the ps3.

Btw - here's a couple of saliva inducing RPG trailers from the PS4 reveal:

Deep Down, from Capcom, with their new Panta Rhei engine. Looks juicy.

And the Agni's Philosophy tech demo (Luminous Engine), which will be used for the next Final Fantasy:

Dude, what really pisses me off now is the PS4. Last month I just replaced my original ($600 unit) because it broke down and as soon as I get it, the PS4 gets announced. I hate technology and how they cycle that shit.

Star Castle is one of my favorites.
When I was a kid, the look and sound of that game were very intimidating.
But now I love it. Same control scheme as Asteroids, but faster,
and tighter responsiveness.
Both his words and manner of speech seemed at first totally unfamiliar to me, and yet somehow they stirred memories - as an actor might be stirred by the forgotten lines of some role he had played far away and long ago.

Wouldn't worry too much about it. They're still selling PS2's. And there are a lot of great games you will be able to pick up cheap soon.
And anyway - there's no point in getting a new console if it doesn't have a decent library. Better to wait a year or two, let them work out all the hardware and software kinks and release some good games. A lot of early games will probably be released on both consoles too, since the PS4 install base will be limited.

Yeah, I hear you. But I guarantee the PS3 games will be playable on the PS4, because of said library -- it will be it's only selling feature. I'm tired of the habit-trail.

I've never been a console gamer, but I did note that the PS4 will play PS1-3 games, but - only via "streaming" they've dumped the "cell" cpu arch and gone AMD64 PC hardware so it's not possible for the hardware to run games made for PS3 (emulating cell on amd64 cpu would not be fast enough)

Jesus, I give up. Only via streaming? And yeah, WTF? They're dumping the cell arch?

Yup. No more Cell. They're using an AMD eight core processor with a GPU integrated on the same chip (a modified version of the radeon 7850, if I remember correctly).
It's basically a mid-to high end gaming PC, with a couple of extra chips for specialty functionality.
It's got a dedicated video processing chip for recording and broadcasting game play, and (probably) a low power ARM chip for standby mode, background downloads etc.
One very nice thing is the 8GB of very fast DDR5 memory. Normal PC's (and the next Xbox) use DDR3, which is a lot slower and cheaper.

Anyway - I'm gonna wait until someone hacks it and manage to turn it into a dual-boot PS4 / Steam Box. :)
